The times, they are a-changing, part 2

Post by mbeezie »

A few weeks ago Polly made a post about how common food sensitivities are becoming. Today I read a NYT article by Mark Bittman (food journalist and NYT columnist) about how his GERD went away when he gave up dairy. He went on to say what we have said her all along, that calcium doesn't help bones, but vitamin D does. I think Polly is right . . . the word about food sensitivities is getting out.

I've been following the threads about vitamin D and calcium and to say the least it's been interesting.

As far the word getting out there...That one does scare me...pretty soon there may be a full blown pandemic of common sense  Followed by better health...

Let's hope it continues

Thanks for posting these articles.

Thanks for the article Mary Beth. I was never a big milk drinker (I think I always had lactose issues). I tried to supplement calcium but the tablets just didn't seem to agree with me. I did some hair testing analyses a few years back and the Dr. told me I had a pretty high level of calcium. I thought that was good (as I was already having osteopenia issues) but he said it indicated I wasn't absorbing the calcium properly. Hmmmm.
That was when I started learning about vitamin D and supplementing that. I'm in a 3 year study at Mayo testing bone density so it will be interesting to see where that goes. So far, so good.
