Medicalert Bracelet or Tag

Post by MBombardier »

It occurred to me recently that I am so sensitive to gluten and soy that I might want to have a medical alert somewhere in my possession should I be incapacitated and not able to speak for myself.

I was looking around the internet for options, and noticed that one of the suggestions for what to put on the medicalert bracelet or tag is "NO NSAIDS." What a great idea.

I also noticed on celiac.com that people suggested putting celiac/gluten intolerance on there because not everyone knows what celiac is and how gluten intolerance relates. I would think that the medical community would make that connection, but I guess you never know... Can you imagine putting microscopic colitis on there with nothing about gluten, and having the emergency room personnel saying, "What the heck is microscopic colitis?" LOL

Hi Marliss. I had a medical alert bracelet made for my IgA deficiency, but not for my intolerances. I figure, for me, I can DIE from blood that they give me, but not from gluten or NSAIDS. I bought a very fashionable one :)

That's cool, Mary Beth. And those are a lot less expensive than some I've seen.

I've printed a wallet card with DH's and my medical information. I put them inside a name tag holder attached to a lanyard. We take them with us when we walk, bike ride or exercise at the gym. I found the free form on this site: http://www.medids.com/ . It also has bracelets.

I have one listing my intolerances & entocort. I never thought about the NSAIDs but I wish I would have added that on it. Mine is dog tag style that came with a rubber sleeve around the edge and I keep it on my keychain. I'm very satisfied with it and paid only $4.99. They are made by USA dog tags and all you need to do is type in medical id on Amazon to find the maker.

I've also order them as luggage tags with name, address, etc. and have never been disappointed.
