Thanks Tex,
I can usually figure out how to get those computer challenges to work . Profile pix is great! Thanks!

Here is a question about chicken broth, I simmered the caracas for 24 hours and left the bones and cartilage in the bowl I dipped to eat. The bones and cartilage were so soft that ate them thinking they must have the minerals in them.

Mainly the bones were from the caracas after I roasted the chicken. So no breast, thigh or wing bones. Just wondering if this is OK?
Thanks for any replies.

Since no one else seems willing to venture an opinion, I'll throw in my 2 cents worth. The paleo people and even recent hunter-gatherers were known to eat bones, internal organs, and virtually everything else except the horns, hooves, hides, beaks, and feathers, and the main reason why they didn't eat the hides was because they were too valuable for other purposes (such as clothing, leather for pouches, bindings, etc.). The paleo records show plenty of evidence that even large bones were broken up with stone tools so that the marrow could be eaten.

What you did was very paleoish.

You're most welcome,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

When I was growing up my father used to suck the marrow out of chicken bones and leave a pile of shredded bones on his plate. I of course thought it was pretty gross but I now understand it to be healthy for you.

Thanks for the info on the bone eating. I do get it honest, as a kid I would always gnaw on the bones of chicken, and love the marrow of the round
steak.
Most of the time in recent years, I would get boneless skinless chicken, and good luck trying to find a round steak with the round bone left in.....

I will tell you that rendered down chicken broth was some of the best flavored, savory treat I have ever tasted

I fought anyone who had bones on the plate "for the dog" and appropriated them for ME! Bones and cartilage. What I miss most about not eating chicken.

So many markets carry boneless cuts of meat now that I used to buy bone in. I think much of the butchering takes place off site too, because when I have asked for bones they have none available.
Most irritating because the flavors of the stock is so enhanced with the bones and marrow.

I haven't tried to find any beef bones yet. I know a place that has a dairy and farmers market, I will check that out soon!

Hopefully the big D will get under control soon, and I will take baby steps towards adding in one food at a time. I have burned myself twice, newbie mistakes...
...
Thanks for the reinforcement about the bone ingestion.....
