I read a column today in our local Orange County Register newspaper that focused on the benefits of Resveratrol....the substance in chocolate and red wine that is supposed to promote cardiovascular health. The most interesting part focused on its anti-inflammatory benefits.
There is solid evidence that it lowers the markings of inflammation that reduce heart disease risk. My question is whether or not it might lower inflammation in other parts of the body.
The article went on to say that the highest source of Resveratrol is found in Japanese knot-wood and supplements containing a high concentration of this substance are recommended.
The only downside mentioned in the column was that too high a dose of this supplement can cause GI upset and diarreah. For us that would certainly be a downside. Does anyone have an opinion or experience with Resveratrol?

I take it. One pill a day. Can't say for sure if it has helped lower my inflammation since I am taking other supplements to lower inflammation too, such as Krill oil and Biastin. However, my blood work has shown signs of improvement for my inflammation, but whether this is due to the Reservatrol, the Krill, the Biastin or all three is a toss up. I plan on taking it anyway and when my markers for inflammation are gone I will stop it, take more blood work, and then assess the results. I did not have any problems with it in regards to any gastrointestinal problems, but then I only took one pill a day, 250 mg.
