Hi,
just thought I would give an update, maybe if only to give others a bit of encouragement, went GF nearly 2 months ago on the 28th May, I know its early days and I have had some bumps along the way but thankfully just a few, Im lucky to be able to have dairy it dosent seem to cause me any problems so just avoiding gluten, it must be very hard for those who are celiac as well, I did have a reaction the day after I had cheese but have since ate it and had no probs, so there are plenty of foods you can eat if you are only allergic to gluten, I started last week to eat some things I hadn't eaten for a while, cabbage gave me D as did prawns, so now I am finding the foods that I use to eat that have no gluten in and are causing me a problem, my OH said he would,nt have the patience to try to work out all these food issues but I said if he had this condition then to do this and to feel well its no problem, I fill my journal in daily as Joe suggested which I find is very helpful, so now Im concentrating on introducing GF foods I haven't ate for a while and if I get a reaction I will eliminate them, it is hard work but hopefully worth it in the end.
Saw GI Tuesday for a check up regarding the hemerroid banding I had in March, he asked how I was coping with the LC told him I had gone GF and feel so well no D or C so far, he did say that I had been tested negative for celiac but he did agree that most people with MC were allergic to wheat well thats what PP have been saying all along, I just cant understand why they dont mention this at the beginning, if your not celiac they tend to think your diet isn't a problem. so glad I found this site and all the help, support and advise you give is invaluable.
keep well and take care
Marg

Hi Marg,
Thanks for the update, and I hope your recovery continues and you're eventually as good as new.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Hi Marg,
Good to read you are doing better at practicing a GF diet.
Some foods are rough on your digestive system creating serious discomfort and gas. Cabbage and broccoli are two of these foods that are not fun at all so I'm not surprised you had a bad time with cabbage. Have you had any discomfort with soy products? At first I unknowingly ate a lot of tofu but came to realize that this was causing me gas and bloating. I was tested and told I was not celiac but the proof is in the pudding as they say.

Coryhub- i've not knowing had soy but after hearing that for most of us its a no no I am being vigalant and forever reading labels to make sure there is no soy in the ingredients, I did have a bottle of soy sauce in the cupboard which I threw away many months ago only hubby used it just twice, I never liked the smell of it - so never tried it, we dont buy it now as even he had a bad reaction and D and swears it was the soy sauce, he tried it again and the same thing D and he hasn't got MC there must be something in it thats bad for you so no more soy in this house.
