back and pelvic pain with MC

Post by Cincygirl »

Has anyone that has MC, experienced lower pelvic & back pain at the same time? It happens when i stand, and sometimes gets intense enough that i have to wait for it to subside. I go for a colonoscopy tomorrow, (mon) and that alone has me very anxious. It's this waiting that racks my nerves. I guess I'm trying to diagnose myself before the doc does! Thanks

Hi,

Welcome to the board. Yes, lower back and pelvic pain were very frequent problems (along with many other symptoms), back when I was reacting. Fortunately those problems faded away after I got my other symptoms under control.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hi CG!

I guess you're preparing for the dreaded cleanout. Good luck tomorrow. Make sure your GI doc will be taking multiple biopsies from different areas of the colon.

Hugs,

Polly

pelvic pain

Post by Cincygirl »

Thank you Polly, and Tex for replying, yes i am in the process of my liquid diet today, And I'm glad to hear that this pain is probably connected! I'm hoping that doing the biopsies wont cause any bleeding afterwards, Will keep you posted. Thank you both!

I thought it was just me.....sometimes the pain when standing is so severe that I have to stop what I'm doing and sit down. It does seem to happen with severe attacks, especially if I have become dehydrated. With my CC, I can handle having D once or twice a day but it is not unusual for me to have to make 15 trips to the potty room usually at night. Doctor Yamamoto in Reno, NV, diagnosed my CC in 1997 after colonoscopy with biopsies.

I am currently taking 1500 mg of Sulfasalazine every 12 hours along with Diphenoxylate-ATROP 2.5-0.o25mg tab generic for Lomotil and, althouth I have cramping and pain from the colon inflamation.....it's a "good" day. Hope you have good news from your doctor on Monday. Carol

Hello CG and welcome to the group from NH. Back and pelvic pain go hand in hand with IBDs like and Crohns and MC. Whenever either my Crohns or MC is acting up my lower back and pelvis do hurt.

I hope your feeling better soon.

Ok. That was my question. (one of them).
I remember that back and front pain from last December and January when this all started. I have not felt it since....until 3 days ago when the D started up again and the blahs......and I DONT KNOW WHY! I guess I became rather smug thinking a bad day was 2 semi- soft BMs and counted myself fortunate that i had a mild form of LC. Maybe I became a little careless, going to restaurants and making assumptions about preservatives and prepared foods.

Anyway....for the first time, I am on chicken, rice and carrots. It's interesting; I fluctuate between slight nausea and lack of appetite to gnawing hunger rumblings. I hope this passes soon. The BMs are some better today but I do feel that back/front ache. I picture inflammation causing this. Does anyone relate to this?

Christine,

.

I can strongly relate to this. I've spent at least 8 months feeling this way. I would carry dry rice Chex and rice cakes to work with me so that when I finally went from nausea to hunger I could capitalize on the moment of hunger. I had many days, even weeks, with a real lack of appetite. I see the moments of hunger as times when things are actually working right and over time my appetite is returning to something resembling normal.

I couldn't decide if the nausea was also caused at times by not eating. I had days that I would have been happy to not eat at all, if I could have functioned that way. At any rate, it really is a day-at-a-time sorta thing. I saw my appetite returning as a sign of healing.

take care,
Carol

Hi Christine...

Sorry to hear that you are having a flare up. We all slip.....I'm just getting back on my meds for CC and eating nothing but chicken this week. In addition to the lower back pain, I often suffer from nausea and hunger pains but rarely lose my appetite. FWIW my nausea seems to improve if I can get a few big burps out. I used to take Gas-X for nausea but the mint flavor started giving me acid indigestion and, when taking Tums I end up needing more of them all the time.

It is definitely difficult to be patient.....We want answers and cures right now. And, as others have said, we all have to find our own path to follow. I hope I've helped in some way.....I'm sure that others in the group can give you more answers than I have being a newbie.

Sending good thoughts your way.

Thanks both Carols.
Even though I wish you sunny, symptom-free days,, it is some comfort to know you are not alone. I know if I went to the doctor I would not get the support and reassurance I get here.

Hi Christine,

I'm kind of new here, so dont have alot of experience with this all. But that was one symptom I did have was the pelvic and back pain. It seems to come and go, it's not constant!
