Chick-fil-A

Post by desertrat »

I love that place. I always get the children's grill chicken nuggets with fries and apple juice. Never had a problem with it. However, I have begun to wonder about the quality of their chicken. Chipotle always boasts about their hormone free chicken.

Does anyone know if Chick-fil-A does the same? I went on their website and they claim:

Each of our suppliers has its own proprietary feed formula. In general, the feed contains from 68 percent to 82 percent grain —corn, soy and wheat — with the balance comprised of vitamins, minerals and protein-based products.

The United States government strictly regulates all feed additives and does not permit any type of hormones to be added to feed or otherwise given to chickens. (The use of hormones in poultry has been banned by the USDA since the 1950s.) Avian antibiotics are only used in very limited circumstances to ensure bird health. Our suppliers maintain proper testing programs to ensure only safe products ever reach our customers.

I really want to believe they don't, but I am beginning to think this is not true.

I don't know about the quality of their chicken but I got sick after taking my grand-daughter to Chik-fil-A. I have never been a fan of fast food but while at the Mall I had to choose something that my grand-daughter would eat and, hopefully, wouldn't make me sick. You won't find me back there any time soon.

I almost got sick just reading the list of ingredients in their grilled chicken salad! The number of chemicals was mind-boggling. Ask for the ingredients list next time...

Not sure I want to read that list either! That is why I only get the kid's meal, grilled chicken nuggets with apple juice. I am too afraid to try anything else!

Did you know you can order 8 grilled chicken nuggets there for the same price as their regular 8-count nuggets? I still can't eat salad so I don't even think about that, but I can eat the grilled nuggets with apparently no ill effects.

My son and 3 grandchildren, who are all gluten intolerant, frequently eat the grilled chicken and fries there - it's one of their "safe" stand-by meals.

I have pretty much stopped eating out, but when I did, I used to get a similar meal at Red Robin, with no apparent reaction. They have the most amazing steak fries, that are fried in a separate, dedicated fryer, thus avoiding cross contamination. They have a poppy seed honey mustard sauce that's gluten free and very tasty. It goes well with the grilled chicken and fries as a dipping sauce.

Love,
Kari
