Camping trip

Post by JJ »

Bye-Bye...I am off for an overnite camping trip with the senior class. The kids will be doing a high ropes course and camping at the wildernesss center where we are going. Many of the kids have never camped before! This is not a real campground, so there is no electricity, running water, or toilets...only Porta-Pottys. The school owns about 6 big tents which the kids practiced putting up the other day. There is a rain storm moving in tomorrow afternoon...hope we are on our way home by then. This is my first year on this particular trip, but I heard that one year, it snowed! We are going up in the foothills...hopefully the snow level will stay high...haha. I will report when I get back....got to run and get ready...TTFN...JJ

Have a good :camping: trip

I am not a camper----me and Lou are spoiled---we like the comforts of a hotel/motel  --what can I say----
If an *ant* crawled in my tent I would be *yucking*

I imagine it has to be a very rewarding adventuresome outing~~~seeing nature and discovering new things----

Maybe I can try it in my backyard!!!!

Lets hear how it all went J

Do the teachers get to do the ropes course too? I always loved those things! Especially the zip line the one we used to go to with my Youth Group had at the end!

Have fun

hahahaha....I'm home! When I unpacked, I found a slug in my duffle bag!!!!!!! Gross! I also had to scrape one off the tent before I could take it down! Ah, the great North West! We were up in Snohomish if anyone knows the area.

I was plenty warm, but woke up hurting in the middle of the night...my hip was killing me...I finally woke up enough to realize that my air mattress had sprung a leak and was totally flat...grrrrrr...it was a long night on the hard, cold ground. The tent floor and deflated air matress didn't keep out the cold very well.

Katy, I didn't do the ropes course with the kids, but I was welcome to do it if I wanted. There was no way I was going some 60 feet off the ground....I know it is safe...the kids wear harnesses and are roped-up, but it looked difficult to me. I'm also 52 years old and out of shape. I passed out cookies and cheered the kids on. We were in two areas....the high ropes area and the giant's ladder/power pole activity. The power pole involved each student climbing up a ladder, then on foot holds to the top of a pole...then they stood and balanced on the top of the pole, then jumped way out and tried to grab a trapeze. Of course they had a harness/ropes on, but it took real guts to balance on the top of that darn pole. No thanks! The kids had a blast...we ate s'mores last night around the camp fire...my diet is shot to heck! When I got home I had to 2 hours to rest/bathe, then headed back to school for the Faculty/Board of Trustees dinner...poor timing, but lovely dinner.

TTFN>>JJ

PS Tomorrow is a regular day of school, almost  ...grrrrrr
