just got home from our little holiday. It was a lovely break. Went on a boat trip to Frazer Island. More on that later. First night we went to one of the many restaurants nearby for a seafood buffet. Great. Wonderful fresh oysters and prawns and crabs, beautiful salads as well as hot food. Our accomodation was right at the marina. Love to have one of the boats moored there.

Sounds terrific. Glad you had a great time. No fishing for you, but at least you got to eat some really fresh seafood. I was looking for a fish or shrimp in our emoticons and found this :kiwibird: I guess it is for your family that live in NZ. I don't think we have any forum members from NZ.

Hello Hazel

If you like the wilderness areas of Australia you would certainly like Fraser Island. It is the largest sand Island in the world, 124km's long and heritage listed. It has rainforests over much of it, many sand dunes,40 lakes and lagoons.
Kingfisher Bay where we went has ranger guided eco walks. The resort itself took 3 years to build and no building is permitted to reach any higher than the trees. There is no airconditioning or fans and the buildings have been designed to catch the available breezes.

Woodgate

Post by Liz »

Hello again

I have some really great pics. We went for a drive to a place called Woodgate and had a picnic beside the beach. I remember a few years ago that when I was playing bowls there the kangaroos came up very close to the green just on dusk. Well they are still there. I know how many people from overseas imagine that we have roos running down the main street in the cities but this is not the case. We do have them in not so populated areas though. A group ran across the road in front of us and wefollowed them up a side steet. There were about 8 in all. 3 were in some persons backyard having a nice feed. These were on the footpath.

As you can see, one has a joey hanging out of her pouch, all feet.
