Monsanto's Genetically Modified Sweet Corn Is Here

Post by tex »

Hi All,

It's being harvested in the Midwest and Northeast right now. Look for it at Wal-Mart, but Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and General Mills have announced that they won't be using it or stocking it.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Won't be long before the genetically modified stuff "corrupts" all the rest of the corn... or am I being overly pessimistic.

Nope, you're not being overly pessimistic -- it's already happening with regular field corn.

Wonder if my Orville Reddenbacher popcorn is tainted... that would be sad. It is a treat I can tolerate once in awhile now.

Farmers around here can't find anything other than GMO corn to plant. It's a plague as far as I'm concerned.

When the govt allowed all this to start it was supposed to be voluntary, wasn't it?

In what way Granny? I'm not sure what you're asking. I don't think that we were given any choice but I may be wrong. They banned it in Europe...not here.

Big wave to you, it's good to see you here again!

I thought farmers were to be given a choice whether to plant the monsanto seeds.

Then there were problems about the wind blowing over the experimental plots and didn't I read someplace that farmers were being charged for their genetically modified crop that was caused by "mother nature"... but really poorly planned experimental fields????

Whole thing is a mess!

I agree with you Granny. It is a terrible mess and a blight for the human race.
