Dietician

Has anyone ever been to a dietician? Have they been helpful?

Chelsea,

Unfortunately, it seems that it's virtually impossible to find a dietician who understands the diet requirements of this disease, and without that understanding, they are typically not very helpful. Our own Mary Beth is probably the only dietician in the country (possibly the world) who truly understands the diet connection with MC.

At least that's my impression, based on the accumulated experiences posted to the board over the years.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I went to a dietician who speciliazes in celiac and multiple food intolerances. She asked me to make a list of all my staple foods, and a brief food diary. After 2 visits, she determined I was eating just fine and sent me on my way. I'll see another dietician later this month to go over my MRT results.
