Autoimmune issues and Lyme

Several months ago I posted info pertaining to Lyme as a cause of autoimmune issues. I have done numerous tests and have received a positive diagnosis of Lyme with rocky mountain spotted fever (rickettsia) as a co infection. Pretty sure I got this in Florida in oct of 2005. The day after I got home the colitis started. Naturally it took a year and a half to get the LC diagnosis, but it took another 7 years to find the root of the issue. do not settle for doctors telling you that you're immune system just suddenly turned on you. Most people with LC recall exactly when their symptoms started, doesn't that scream of some kind of pathogenic infection. Luckily I came across a doctor that recognized signs of a hidden infection in years and years of blood work. If you suspect Lyme pay for the testing at igenex labs, the CDC testing is horrible and out of date. Good luck to all.

You are absolutely right. Back in 2002, I had a positive test for Lyme, done at Igenex, and at that time, luckily, I found a Lyme Literate doctor (LLMD) only a 3 hour drive away from our home. At that time, we lived in MO, and I know exactly when I was bitten, had the traditional Bull's eye red rash.

I was on lots and lots of antibiotics, as Lyme can be stubborn to rid, and I still have some residual problems. Since antibiotics can be a cause, I believe, of MC, I'm not too surprised that I have this dread disease.

Thanks to this site and Tex and everyone who contribute, I am now GF/DF and doing fairly well. This is a lifetime change, but a good one.
