Does C=D in people like me?

Post by Lesley »

If I eat something enterolab has said I shouldn't would it cause C rather than D, with the same inflammatory damage?

I get into such trouble with C no matter what I eat. After 3-4 days of C I try everything (and believe me I take everything, and all together!) including eating eggs, and other forbiddens (but not gluten - too scared of setting off something I can't control).
Then, after a few days of taking a whole bunch of stuff, when I do get going my BM is by no means Norman. Mucous, and often some D, which stops and I go back to C.

Probably. The mucus is strong evidence of inflammation.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Lesley,

I have the d to c problem, although probably not as severe as yours. I have found a product that works for me

http://www.iherb.com/Christopher-s-Orig ... 9-ml/11809

What I like about it is that it is a liquid so you can titrate the dose in small increments. I stick to my dietary restrictions but use a few drops of this in water 3 times a day and it is working. Instead of the c to d and back again tango, I seem to be approaching normal. Not quite there yet but getting there, I hope. It doesn't taste very good but tolerable.

 I thought so Tex. The C is driving me nuts. I take SO much, and all together. I bombard my bowels.
I am not losing weight. On the contrary. I wish I would lose a bit. And I seem to be digesting food - it's not coming out in my stools.

Thanks Jean. I will try it. So far nothing helps.

Lesley,

It may not be strong enough for you. I like being able to increase it in small increments to keep me from going over to the other side, which can happen so easily for me. Another good product is "Dr Schulz Intestinal Formula #1"

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_ ... Caps%2C153

It is too strong for me. One doesn't always work but 2 is always too strong. The directions on this product say to increase by one pill a day until you reach the amount that works. For me, it is either too weak or too strong but never just right. I make a bad Goldilocks, but maybe it would work for you.

I can see how this would drive you nuts, Leslie. I am sick of living my life for my digestive tract but your yo-yo syndrome is so much worse than my concern about maintaining an even keel.

Jean,
You have no idea how much I have to take to get things going and preventing the dreaded plug! A normal person would be blown out of the water. Never leave the potty, and I am lucky if I get a BM at all. And then - it's D, though not explosive D like I had at the beginning. And then it starts again.
I will order the stuff you recommend, though I will start with the strong one.

Brandy - isn't she though?

Chris - I don't know if it's worse. It is enough to make me crazy. Trouble is I have no idea what's causing it. Nothing causes D anymore except the stuff that keeps me going. What's causing the C is totally a mystery.

I would hope you aren't waiting until you haven't had a BM for several days and then trying to make it pass.

My only suggestion would be that when you are cleaned out to eat maybe 6 prunes every day to keep you regular. Also increase your other fruit.

And be sure you are drinking enough water.

I am not waiting Charlotte. I am taking everything all the time. Sometimes it works every couple of days, and sometimes it doesn't and then I try adding in more stuff. I ordered the stuff Jean suggested, and hope it will work.

I eat prunes all the time. I buy them from TJs and eat them by the bushel.
