I just wanted to say thanks again and spend a moment sharing a bit of a life lesson.
As some of you know this past roughly 12 months I have had 3 significant surgeries and just recently had been dealing with the possibility of a cancer diagnosis, thankfully it turned out to be nothing. Overall during the surgeries I had acted emotionally allowing the emotions to more or less guide how I was feeling, reacting and healing. In looking at a couple of books recommended by Polly and Jean (JFR), I had a little time to review how important our frame of mind is when it comes to our health.
I'm not sure why, but when this issue reared it's head, I decided to just deal with this logically and not allow emotive reactions to guide how I was to feel or handle this situation. While many of you may already be aware of this, this simple realization was a fairly profound change in how I would normally handle things emotionally. It does not take any strength as all it is, is a decision to think and react a certain way. It's so easy to allow our emotions to take over and get mad, scared or upset and I believe those take the energy, those emotions take the effort leading to stress and that as we know is not conducive to good health. Making the decision to react to just the facts and choose to deal with the situation on its own merits is actually fairly easy.
I'm sure I'm not describing this very well, but I think I'm beginning to understand what a few members here have talked to me about and that's working to remain calm when faced with these situations and simply give the situation only the attention it needs and that's it. Dont dwell on the diagnosis, accept it for what it is and simply move on giving it only the attention it needs medically.
Again, thanks to all here for your thoughts, prayers and well wishes, I certainly was and am quite humbled by all of this. In the end I feel I have grown and matured some through this experience and will continue to hopefully learn more about this.
