I decided to take an extended break from my frantic search for Norman. Nothing seemed to work so I decided to give up the search...

I did keep in mind the many things I have learned from y'all here and at least I am not as bad off as I was three years ago when CC arrived after taking visicol to prep for a colonoscopy.

My overall health is not what it should be as I can't seem to find a balanced diet nor vitamins that I can tolerate...

After getting sick as a dog in the Parking Lot that was the Rita Evacuation from Houston.. I decided to throw in the towel and make a doctor's appointment to try Entocort... today is the day of the appointment... sure hope Entocort works!

I am just a few days short of three years of being a randomly exploding poop bomb and I have had enough of it....LOL

I sure hope it does, too, Granny. It has done the trick for me after doing everything but swallow a bag of Redi-Mix cement. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

It's good to hear from you.

Please, don't beat yourself up and feel as though your throwing in the towel or giving up your search for Norman.

After three years of struggle and dilegently trying various treatments without results your still searching and I'd do exactly what you are and seek out a med to regain some control. You know what's been said over and over here, what works for some doesn't for others.

Entocort worked really well for me also and it seems to be a med that works for MCr's. You've done your homework! This is a positive step in your continued search for Norman.

Keep us posted. I'll bet you will pooping properly before you know it.

The doctor took one look at me and said, "Finally ready to get some help now?" He had been so frustrated with me that I wanted to do it on my own with no medicine.. but he let me muddle along til I was really ready...LOL

Got the Entocort EC and start it in the morning...

Good luck with the Entocort...it has been a life saver for me! I am down to taking it 3xweek and no symptoms.

Let us know how you're doing. As I recall, my D stopped about 3 days after I started taking it.

So sorry to hear about your troubles. We drove right past where you live when we evacuated. Glad we didn't offer to pick you up! Hee hee. (Sorry, I couldn't resist!).

Seriously, when (day and time) did you leave home to evacuate? Where was your destination and did you make it?

I'm hoping that since your symptoms were related, time-wise, to the prep for the colonoscopy, that IF the prep actually was the underlying cause rather than something that just triggered off something latent, that you hopefully will eventually get a complete reversal of the damage to your colon with this medication. Wouldn't that be great!

Remember that there are supposedly those who get well spontaneously after a few ?, and others who get well on medications, or so they tell me. They must've had follow-up colon biopsies to make those claims, I'm asssuming, unless they're just going by the fact that their symptoms don't return after a certain no. of months or years. It seemed in Dr. Fine's study on Pepto, that it was those who didn't respond to Pepto in those early days who ended up being reactive to gluten and other foods, so I would imagine that it's the later group who after trying a number of different meds, decide to check out the internet and find the M.C. site, and then discover that they respond well to being free of certain foods.

At any rate, I hope that you not only get free of symptoms, but also, that your innards will be free of M.C., and that after a short while, you'll attain your goal of being med free without a remission...ever. If not, you can always go back to a combination of diet and medication, and then after a while, wean yourself off of medication, but I'm hoping that won't be necessary. Whatever happens, this group is 100 percent behind you!

Lucy, our Rita evac trip to Oklahoma City took 24 hours (usually an 8 1/2 hour trip). I started as the driver and after 9 hours we had gone 20 miles. That is when I got sick... we could have turned around and been home in 45 minutes but my son and his wife insisted we keep going. I kept taking phenargen until I stopped throwing up.. was a zombie by the time we got to our destination. The gas gauge light went on as E just as we hit our son and daughter in law's driveway in OK. We got gas nearby.. I had less than half a gallon left in the tank! Coming home was easy.. we left at 8 pm, no traffic and plenty of gas available for the trip home.

Have taken my 3 entocort... now hope that positive thinking helps it work:)

Hope that things settle down with the entocort. I am bloating and exploding about 7-10 hours after I take it in the morning.. taking 3 of the 3 mg capsules in the morning ... the last two days I have had to eat my dinner cold as I have had to get up to run to the john half a dozen times or more ...

Guess the good part is so far I have at least made it to the john before I explode each time. Hubby thinks maybe I should just set up a table in the john and eat there...LOL

Ummmm. I'm no doctor, and I don't play a doctor on TV, but the symptoms you describe, sound surprisingly like a typical intolerance reaction. Something is going seriously wrong, I'm afraid.

Could be an allergic reaction or an overdose... haven't decided if I should spread the darn things out or take few of them.. will keep at it a bit since it has only been two days.. I don't want to take tincture of opium which was his other suggestion....

I started spreading the pills out yesterday.. breakfast, lunch and dinner instead of all in the morning. At least I didn't explode twice a day. So far I am no better off than I was before I started entocort EC.. but it has only been 3 days... the experiment continues:)

Are things any better for you today Grannyh?

I had a intolerant reaction like this to the first med I tried after my DX - Asacol. I continued taking it for almost five days, not knowing any better at the time.

I hope things are settling down for you. Let us know.
