I would like to ask another question from this newbie. Since my advice Thurs nite I had a couple of really good days and actually late last nite had my first norman in over 3 months. I was surprisingly pleased to say the least. I started 100% GF thurs nite. Now my next question is......fresh or cooked fruits and vegetables........how do they do for you other folks??? I read as much as I could on GF and got the impression that fruits and veggies are ok. I was relieved since I do enjoy them. However after I got up this morning.....I had a couple so-so episodes. Not normans and not D....however after that I have had at least 5 more D episodes. I did eat some fresh fruit and veggies yesterday along with GF selected foods. I also realize that it will probably take a while to get things normalized but I did have a HUGE HIGH hope last nite. Just looking for any input on my eating habits since the only direction I got from my GI is "whatever you can tolerate". That was a big help!!! Funny I trust you guys more already than I ever did the GI doc.
thanks for your help

Hi Cathy Congrats on your progress and on going GF. While we are healing, it is NOT a good idea to eat raw fruits and veggies ( too much roughage and certain types of sugars). COOK all your veggies ( no salad) and I only ate canned peaches and apple sauce for a couple of months. When I felt I was ready, I tried one thing at a time to see how I reacted. Some worked, others didn't. It's a process and it takes patience, but you are off to a good start :)

Hi Cathy,
Leah is right. Roughage is like sandpaper on your already irritated intestines. Think 'soft and easy to digest' while you are healing. Your bowel needs to rest as much as it can during this time.
take care,
Carol
