Your son sounds like an exceptional young man. Congratulations on a job well done.

Great news that you are cancer free!! With luck the steroid injections will do their job and give you sustained relief. Have a wonderful time.

Thanks for all of the wonderful comments... I made it to San Antonio today, I had a good flight on an air force VC-20, basically a small passenger jet. This allowed me to carry my cooler wth all of my meals easily onboard and get up and about to stretch more often. The pain meds were helpful and all went well.

I did get some great news today, I spoke with Joe and he received his grades and rankings and will be graduating with high honors, he ranked #4 out of the total class of about 2400. He is pretty excited, I'll be able to visit with him tomorrow after the first day of 3 filled with ceremonies etc..

My camera is all charged up...so photos to follow...

Whoa - that's quite an impressive rank! He and you deserve to be proud! Congratulations to you both.

I'm so glad that you're cancer-free and also that you've made the trip without incident. I hope you enjoy your visit.

Thanks Maggie, Gloria and Nancy. Your right Jenny it is pretty incredible, Joe worked quite hard and when his commander gave his talk he singled out Joe and his work ethic.

Today was his finalization of basic training and the coin ceremony, tomorrow he gets his commission.

Here are a few photos from today.

Tex I don't know how you deal with these temperatures!!

Whos that ugly guy with my son

Nice pictures!

What an honor to be singled out by the commander!

That looks like one of the Blue Angels planes which just flew over Chicago last week. Will he be flying one of them?

Hi Gloria, Joe is not going to be a pilot, he is more in research and engineering regarding the newer engines and avionics for the next generation of planes.

That plane in the picture is an F-15 and it does look similar to the F-18 that the blue angles fly. It's great hat you got a chance to see them, they are pretty amazing.

Hi Joe,

Looks like he's a chip off the old block.

Actually, the temps here are down about 10 degrees this week, compared with the last few previous weeks. I believe it's been a few degrees below normal, during the last few days, but the prediction is for more normal weather next week. :sigh:

Thanks for the pics.
