Hi Hollie,
Welcome to the board. While a few members here have had spectacular results within a few days after adopting the GF diet, most of us have found that it takes several weeks to several months to see significant improvement. Our body continues to produce anti-gliadin antibodies for a long time after we remove gluten from our diet, and the half-life of anti-gliadin antibodies is 121 days, so it takes a while for the antibody level to decay to below the threshold above which a reaction is triggered. IOW, the length of time required depends on how high our antibody level is to begin with, because the higher our initial antibody level, the longer it takes before we stop reacting.
Incidentally, here's a link to a list of abbreviations frequently used on the board:

Again, welcome aboard, and please feel free to ask anything.
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Thanks Tex! I am really enjoying all this information. There is very little info out there online, you guys have it all and I am thankful I found you :) Also Good to know not to be discouraged if there is no change after a few days of being on the diet. And thank you for the abbreviation list, that will bookmarked now :)

Wow! It sounds like you've been through a lot, and you might need to find some new doctors. It's very surprising to me that no one will do a laparoscopy for you, because I thought that was pretty standard with the endometriosis diagnosis. Then again, when I was diagnosed with endometriosis my doctor really discouraged me from having one, but I thought most people did. Also, doesn't seem how many of us have endometriosis?
I hope you find some answers soon, I'm currently undergoing a lot of tests and seeing a lot of doctors to finally get a diagnosis and some relief from my symptoms, so I can definitely sympathize with your situation.

Well due to the fact i have had so many abdominal surgeries and each one took more work and took much longer than normal, they know I will be a mess inside if they cut me open. I dont blame them being hesitant, but to flat out deny me does suck.
I had a cat scan today, with dye. Brain and full abdomen. Those results should be back Monday. I did get some blood work back though. My IgA and IgG were negative. Everything else looked normal (sadly i never show anything) except Epstein barr showed a false positive with a note saying its from a previous infection (one i did not know about) and my white blood cells and platelets were high. My WBC count is ALWAYS high, but the platelet thing is new. I had alot of the other levels show normal, but on the very low end. Who knows at this point whats happening.
