Tex,
I have it the same way as Joe and think it looks great. I'm jumping around and reading different chapters and it's easy to do on my iPad. I also sent the link to Dr Hamilton and he wrote back "Nice-Thanks!"
Congrats Tex, I'm so proud of you!

Tex, I'll add my thanks to everyone else! You have put so much work into this book, I hope it's a big success, and that it will attract the attention of many who don't know about the forum. I have a kindle, but find it hard to use with an index, as it doesn't provide pages, just "% of book, so I'm ordering the paperback version. This will be an important resource for the ever-growing numbers of people who discover they have MC for a long time to come.

I would also encourage anyone who finishes the book to post a review on Amazon, as most people considering the purchase read the reviews and it can make a big difference.

Tex,
I think the name of the book should be somewhere on the front of the board so that new people see it immediately, and can know there is a book they can read that will "speak" to them. People find this forum as I did, researching the illness when one is dx'd.
The book should be the first thing they see IMO!

Well done!

I also ordered a hard copy last night.

I was thinking the same thing last night and was going to mention it today but Rosie beat me to it.
Be sure to rate the book with a 5 star rating :star: :star: :star: :star: :star: and add your comments.

Wow! I'm amazed that it's already listed on Amazon.uk. Thanks.

But this is an ad-free site. I hate to break that tradition with a vulgar ad. LOL. Maybe I'll set up a separate site for that purpose and just add a link to it. It would still be a link to an ad, but at least it would be a little more discrete.

Please be honest with any ratings because inflated ratings will just lead to disappointed buyers, and presumably they may post bitter ratings if they feel that they were mislead.

Yes, I'm relieved, and yes, I am very apprehensive of how the general public and the medical community may view this book — especially gastroenterologists and immunologists (if any read the book). A lot of closed-minded people will probably feel obligated to post very negative reviews. We have to remember that we understand the disease because we have learned the facts about it the hard way, by experience, and that sharply contrasts with the prevailing medical view.

Thanks everyone — I appreciate your feedback,
Tex

Denise,

Thank you — I hope that you will find it to be worth the cost and the time that you will spend reading it.

I am a retired English teacher, so will be critiquing every sentence, LOL, NOT. I am beyond impressed at your willingness to put yourself out there as a writer (something that is not easy for a lot of people to do). I ordered my copy this morning, and look forward to learning more from you. Once I read it, I'll think about ordering a copy for my GI doc. Knowing her, she would almost certainly read it with an open mind. The GI community needs to hear the voice of those who have dealt with the difficulties of MC from someone who also knows the research, and you have provided that voice. Bravo to you!

Suze,

I'll bet that even though you may hold your tongue, you'll spot every language/writing mistake, immediately. LOL.

I hope you're right, and my writing style doesn't turn off every GI doc who happens to read it. I tried to tone it down, but as you know, that's not always so easy (when they're such easy targets). LOL.

Here is how I feel about writing. I hold professionals to a much higher standard than anyone else. Doctors who are specialists are legally qualified as experts, so they are expected (obligated) to be correct. Professional writers are also expected to get their work right, because that's the basis of their livelihood. I'm not a medical professional and I'm not a writer, so how can anyone expect to hold me to a high standard? LOL.

Seriously, while the reviews from members of this board are overly kind, I am certainly aware that there will almost surely be a lot of venomous feedback on the book by members of the general public and certain medical professionals. Considering the prevailing opinions in the medical community in general, dissension will almost surely be the rule. Therefore, every positive review that I see will come as a pleasant surprise.

As an old neighbor always says, "Every morning when I start the day, I expect the worst — that way I'm never disappointed, and on most days, I'm pleasantly surprised". LOL.

Thank you for the kind words,
Tex
