Sorry You Were Sick

Post by Momster »

Hi Tex:

I hope you are well on the way to recovery and happy to know you have family members nearby. That means a lot - nothing worse than being alone when you're sick.

You probably never will get to the bottom of what caused it, but flu season is on the way. I usually get a flu shot, but they don't come until late October or beginning of Nov. I think that's too late and usually have a cold or bout of flu before I can get the shot. October is usually my bad month for that. I did have a bad cold (short duration, thank goodness) on my holiday to Quebec, so it's started.

Anyway, like you said, it also could have been an intolerance to something.
Hope you are recovering quickly now.

Love - Momster

OMG Wayne!!! :yikes:

I'm so glad you are better now!!! That sounds so scary!!! I hope you can pinpoint the culprit somehow. I sure hope you get well very soon.

Forgive you??? Don't be silly. With all that was going on with you? All at the same time? Ugh.

Can you drink apricot nectar? When I was in the ER with dehydration and the doc mentioned Gatorade and I made a nasty face, he was very sympathetic. He said he didn't like the stuff either. He went on to give me his secret formula. Apricot nectar diluted with either still water or carbinated, whichever you like. Apricots are full of potassium like bananas.

Just a suggestion.

Hallucinations and foggy brain sounds like dehydration to me.

As to what caused it all, it's anybody's guess. I have been there though. I seems like all your systems fail together. Rough.

I hope you are better.

Lots of love,

Sally

I say we all chip in and buy Wayne a laptop that he can keep with him at all times! Not only will he be able to send a distress signal if he needs help, but he can stay right here with us even when he's flat on his back in bed.

The "hallucinating" part scares me....... sounds like a high fever? I have to wonder if you got hit hard with a flu - that sounds too severe to be a food reaction, no?

Gosh  You've had a bad time of it, Wayne

Glad to see you're back to feeling half way human - did you say weak like a kitten? :cat: Nayh, I know you can't drink milk; but the diluted nectar that Sally suggested sounds good - perhaps not too sweet for you?! Otherwise try some good mineral water w/o fruit juice to restore all the minerals you've lost.

Here is to your speedy recovery :cowboy2:

Hi Sally,

I remember seeing the apricot nectar in a store, but I probably just assumed that it contains corn syrup, like everything else. I need to check that out, if I ever feel up to going to a store again. LOL. Thanks for the suggestion.

Karen,

Thanks for the tip on the mineral water, also. I never considered that stuff. I need to check it out too, since it's probably more widely available in these one-horse towns around here.

Love,
Wayne

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Mornin' tex!

Hope you're much improved by now. You might want to check out the Dehydration and Electrolyte Imbalance article again in the Newbie Forum. There is one prep (Shirley recommended it) that doesn't have any sugar. Also, you could prepare the homemade recipe from Carrie without using any sugar. I know they both probably taste like swamp water, but for someone who doesn't do well with sugar, it might do the trick.

Love,

Polly
