blood type diet

Post by Leah »

Just curious if anyone has checked out the blood type diet? My father is currently working with a biochemist man who runs blood tests and then prescribes a diet. When my Dad told me what he was eating, it sounded very much like how many of us eat, so I e-mailed this man. He did finally answer me, but not very well.
It sounds like he is putting my Dad on a modified blood type O Diet. I did some research and O is considered the "carnivore" type. We supposedly do best with proteins with no dairy or grains. We also generally have thyroid problems. There are fine tuning rules to that general idea. Type As are the vegetarians who can eat grains and Bs also can't eat grains, but do fine with dairy. Of course, this is a simplified explanation. Anyway, I was wondering if most of us are blood type O? I am.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Leah,
I checked into when I was first dx'd with LC. One health food store worker highly recommended it. I checked with two other health food stores and a nutritionist and they all said they did not believe in it. So, therefore, I just forgot about it.

My sister has been on that diet for about five years, if I remember correctly, and lost over 100 pounds! She has type A positive blood, like me. The diet seems a bit too extreme for me; she has to weigh things and eat within certain time frames. But it worked!

Thanks Tex. I checked the O+ box for myself. I wonder if the A people out there have more intolerances to certain meats since they are "suppose " to have less stomach acid to aid in digestion ( hence the vegetarian type diet). Where as Os are supposedly more likely to suffer from ulcers and GERD due to having a lot of acid.

A+ for me. I tried the blood type diet for a while but found it too restrictive at the time, which is really funny now. I found no relief because I still had soy and other offending foods in my diet.

My blood type is A+ and their diet would definitely not work for me.
