LOL, Joe, that's pretty d--- funny. Curious: what are you paying up there? This week, in central CT, I paid $5.99/lb. When we were in NJ a couple weeks ago, $8/lb off-island, $18.99/lb on-island, outrageous. I heard lobster has been under $5/lb in ME this summer.

I am dating myself. When lobstering, many years ago we used to drive up on the beach behind the restaurant to deliver the lobsters. The wholesale price was 0.35/lb. and the five gallons gas tank for the boat cost $1.40. Enjoy the lobsters.

Wow $0.35 a pound...your right that is a while ago.... I paid a pretty good price at $3.89 per pound which is about as cheap as low grade hamburger. Not a bad price, it was a great meal.

Great pic!

That's about as close as I will come to a lobster unless I manage to swing a trip up your way!

:millianlaugh: Good one, Joe.

I'm impressed the lobster thought to have another lobster witness his will.

Love the picture. Thanks for the laugh. Whenever we have lobster I always think how did the first guy look at these
and decide they would be delicious.

Joe,
That was too funny!!! We had lobster two weeks ago and it was great. Love the prices.

Interesting note: My cousin went back home to New Brunswick this summer and couldn't get lobsters. The lobstermen aren't even going out because no one is paying enough for the lobsters to make it worth their while.

Hi Kitty, I think at least for the US lobster was originally considered an nuisance catch and as something to be thrown away when it was caught in the nets with the fish. I believe it was first fed to the prisoners in Boston as it was considered a low grade food....oh how times have changed

Hi there Cathy, I'm glad you enjoyed some lobsters. My favorite meal is lobster and fresh corn on the cob, which both are incredibe this time of year. I will have to confess a bit, I did have lobster last weekend, but this photo is one from a couple of years ago. When my daughter was home from college, she staged this photo. It's one of my favorites.

So...how can that lobster write out his will with a rubber band clamping his claw? Dont you feel kinda guilty murdering those poor things? Did they squeal when they hit the pot? I have just discovered that ghee now is safe for me. We can't get those beautiful boys here or I would commit regular murder to dip their large claws in a pot of ghee.
