Entocort & Immodium

Post by DebE13 »

So frustrated. I've tired tapering my Entocort to 3mg every other day with using 2 immodium on the alternate day for the past two weeks. Things were ok- a few almost Normans and things stayed relatively the same. This weekend it turned to watery D and I took an Entocort and 2 Immodium yesterday which helped the D a bit. I didn't eat til the end of the day yesterday because I was afraid to. But I still felt rotten anyway. It was either feel pukey all day and eat or feel shakey all day because I am hungry. I'm not sure if the slip was because of the meds or something I ate.

Saturday I ate one bite of breakfast sausage from the butcher (my mistake - it didn't come with a label and I tried it anyway). After one bite it just didn't seem right for me so I ate something else. I didn't have a reaction that I could notice. When I eat soy I get an immediate stomache ache so that is really helpful. Now I'm grapsing at what to do next.

I also eat a lot of corn products and rice. I'm wondering if I should eliminate those also just to see. It's been in the back of my mind for a long time but I just don't want to do it because they are the bulk fillers that make me feel like I've eaten something. I did a blood test for food sensitivities years ago and rice came up on the list. I've read the blood test isn't realiable so I was using that as my excuse for keeping it on my safe list. It doesn't seem that meat and veggies are going to be enough but then again maybe I have no choice. I've been coasting through summer because things have been "good enough" and I busy doing things I enjoy. I was hoping I was one step closer to getting off Entocort. Sigh.

I know I should be testing and adding foods individually so it's easier to identify what's causing problems......... darn it!

Hey Deb,

Looks like you're yo-yoing a lot...

You know I was like you and then I decided to pony up the money (no insurance) and do the entorolab test..I just sent it a few days ago. I am hoping to find out if rice is one of the offenders since I eat a lot of it. I was eating corn products but they didn't do right...

Wishing you the best.

Take care,

Monique

Deb, it sounds like you need a baby step. Take one of your grains out and keep the other one in for now. If you feel no different, take the other out and see. You may just be one of those people who can't eat grains. Many people do fine with a Paleo diet once they get use to it. .... or maybe you are reacting to a certain meat. I know there are some people here that can't do certain meats. The Enterolab test is a good idea, but if you can't afford to do it, Try to eliminate one thing at a time and see what happens.

So sorry you are doing so poorly. Hope you find your answers soon.

Deb, everyone has given you good information. What helps me is to keep a daily food diary of everything I eat or drink. When I have a digestive issue of any kind, I make a note of it. Patterns emerge and foods or drinks that seemed innocuous turn out to be the culprit. I'm on a modified paleo diet after a year on a GF/SF/DF/EF diet. By eliminating nightshades, legumes and most grains I am feeling better most days. I am taking one entocort every other day and have added one 24-hr claritin recently. This disease seems to evolve and we have to keep on our toes to avoid a recurrence of D etc. The entero lab tests and MRT tests help greatly.

Hi Deb,

Sometimes the best thing is to coast for awhile and do the fun things you enjoy! This disease can be so rough early on and you don't want to lose your zest for life.
