Zizzle,
I am happy for you and your kids!
I mainly juice in the morning, although during the weekend I like to do lunch also!
I know juicing is not one of the main treatments for MC, but IMHO, the more rest we can give our colons and the fortication it gives us, seems like a win, win.
I know the hamilton beach juicer which consumer reports and consumer search rates second, and it is around $56.00 delivered. As an entry level juicer, it is a good start and you aren't out a boatload of cash
Take care everyone!

I was at Costco today and a rep was demonstrating a BlendTec appliance. He really didn't call it a juicer. It looked more like a blender. He said throw out your blender, food processor, and juicer as this was all 3 in one.
He made me a juice from fruits and vegetables. Big bucks $329.00-- that was $90. less than what they sell for in other stores where he demonstrates. With this machine it blended everything so smooth that there was nothing left to put in the compost.
He had rice next to the machine and said he can make rice flour/ almond flour much cheaper. He makes almond milk in the machine and there is absolutely nothing to strain out. He tried to convince me I could pay for the machine in no time with the money I'd save making almond milk. For anyone that can afford this appliance I think it would be a great investment. I couldn't.

I looked at several sites to see if this was indeed at juicer too. I couldn't find that it is anything but a blender/food processor.
It may blend veggies and fruits so smooth that it may seem like a juicer. If it doesn't make pulp and throw it somewhere, then I have to assume that we might be getting that fiber in our digestive tract. Maybe it is ok since it is so blended. It has to be better than probably chewing fiborous foods. One of the reviews said it was a lawnmower motor in a blender
As far as making almond milk, I know the Hamilton Beach manual says you can make almond milk in it too...
I am sure someone knows more about this than me.

I found a "vintage" vitamix on ebay. It's stainless steel and has a spigot, which I love. It does the same things as the blenctec does, but cost me way less. I had invested in a juicer some months ago, and have used it ever since. So now I have both. I LOVE ebay.
I find that I can't handle fresh veggie pulp, so I juice my veggies. Fruits, OTOH, I can handle as a smoothie, and i do that in my vitamix.
My juicer has an attachment for grinding meat, which I have used several times.
I also use the vitamix to whisk all the wet ingredients for muffins, and blend the mix for ice cream. I have made oat flour from gluten free oats, and walnut butter from the nuts.
And I have put veggie pulp in there with some potato and cooked it into a soup right in the vitamix when I have the pulp and want to have something hot quickly. It's very versatile.
I use these implements ever single day. Given my food restrictions they make life more bearable.

Leslie,
You're very creative in your cooking! It's obvious that you enjoy it.
Worth noting:
It might be a good idea to test fruits and vegetables by purchasing baby food before investing in a juicer. If someone can't tolerate a fruit or vegetable as pureed baby food, then fiber is probably not the problem and a juicer wouldn't help. I have tested a few fruits and vegetables this way, and I still react to them. A juicer won't help if the problem is an intolerance to the food itself.

Gloria,
I have never "met" anyone as creative in cooking as you! You are even more restricted than I am and you do so much with so little.
I used to enjoy cooking. Now things take so long to make, and then so long to clean up the mess with so little resulting food that I don't enjoy it much any more. Still, when I make something that tastes good I like to share it with friends.
Point about the fruit taken. Still, there is a lot one can do with a good blender. I use it for about everything I make.
Mickie - I love bargaining for things. I set my maximum and won't go over it. Fun!
