Monique......blood sugar question

Post by cjbndtsn »

Hi Monique,
You know I have been having to check my blood sugars for the last week 2-3 times a day. My blood sugars have always been pretty stable and no issues when I get my hemoglobin A1C tested every 6 months. However, since my MC started and I started to lose weight fast and rapidly I also started to experience tremendous break out in sweat episodes and light headedness. I would sweat until soaked. I thought.......WOW this must be what HOT flashes are and let it go at that. However since they took me off the Metformin 2 weeks ago and I have been checking my blood the last week.....I have ranged anywhere from 86 to 152 and these have all been either morning fast(everyday) and then 2 hrs after one of my meals. I know longer break out into the sweats and get light headed like I was. I'm starting to think that because of the weight loss and diet chgs that maybe I was way over dosing my type II diabetis and my blood sugars were dropping to low. I know you are experienced with this so I thought I'd ask your opinion as well. I emailed my doc this morning with my 1st week of readings and waiting to hear back from him yet.
thanks
Cathy

Hi Cathy,

YES, you are absolutely right! I think I mentioned it when we last communicated. All that weight loss, you simply don't need your meds anymore. You were having SERIOUS low blood sugars.

Your sugars look wonderful, fasting and 2 hour after.

Anytime you feel light headed, sweatie and adrenaline kick in, you are experimenting a low. Immediately treat it with some juice which will enter your bloodstream really fast then eat something.

I think you can kiss a very welcome good bye to type 2 diabetes!

Congrats! LUCKY YOU!!!

YEE HAW!!!!!!! Thats what I was hoping so that is 1 less med down. I'm thinking he is prob gonna either reduce my blood pressure med as well. THey last few times I've had that checked its been high 90's to low 100's over 67 or 68. I'm pretty sure that can be reduced as well.
Thanks Monique. I haven't heard back from doc yet from me emailing him about my sugars but I figured that is what was going on since it doesn't happen anymore.

Cathy,

You may not need any blood pressure meds either...if you have one of those gizmos to measure it (I have one at home--walmart has them) you can check your BP everyday and that will tell you. The first few days check it like twice a day to get a base, then once a day for like a week or so and then you can just throw your meds down the tube.

If you don't have one of those gizmos, walmart and other pharmacies have them sitting there by their pharmacy where you can check for free everyday if you want to.

Two meds less down!!!!!!

YEE HAW!!!!!

I was taking nifiderpine once to 2x daily. I am now down to 1/4 of a pill one time a day, or if my BP is OK, none at all!
I have a "gizmo" at home. Walgreens doesn't have one, but I THINK CVS does. Rite Aid certainly does, and most Ralph's (Kroger's) pharmacy have one too.
They aren't expensive, but are not always accurate.

Monique and Lesley,

I think I will get one just to have and check it occasionally but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it might be my 2nd med to eliminate. Now if there is only hope that I could eliminate that little pill that keeps me from peeing so much and with urgency...........but I think that is an age thing that I'm gonna have to get used to.....lol. Because that has NOT stopped just because I went GF.

thanks for the HOPE
Cathy
