Question For Leah

Post by Denise »

Leah,

I am going to order the Enterolab tests but before I do I went through your old posts and could not find your Igg and Iga readings. Can resend your readings?

Thank you,
Denise

Hi Denise. I was away for the weekend and just read your post, but I will look it up and get back to you. I know that my IgA number was <6. I don't remember what my two IGg deficient numbers, but I believe the IgA is the important one for the Enterolab test.

Thanks Leah
Below are my test results.

Medical question to whoever might know the answer.

Is this the same test for deficiency? I do not want to do the tests if the results will not help.

Test name Result Units Reference Range
Anti tTG IgA AB 2.63Negative U/mL 0-15

Anti tTG IgG AB 0.58Negative U/mL 0-15

Thank you!

Hi Denise,

No, that's not a test for selective IgA deficiency. That's an anti-tissue transglutaminase antibody test. It is used to determine whether or not you are having an autoimmune reaction. The problem is that if you have selective IgA deficiency (or IgG deficiency), those test results are worthless. About 1 in 300 people have selective IgA deficiency. I'm not sure what the statistics are on IgG deficiency. We have a fair number of members of this board who have selective IgA deficiency, and one or two who are deficient in all the immunoglobulins.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
