Looking for the Best Multivitamin?

Post by desertrat »

Found this article while searching for a multivitamin. Interesting. Freeda did not do so well in scoring. Shaklee came in 4th! For anyone taking a multi, this list might interest you!

Very interesting...thanks Mandy! I like how they are graded. I need to start taking a multivitamin again, given my recent flare up.

Hi Mandy,

I went to the site and took a look at what they said. Hmmmm . . . I think the reports look very suspicious. They are ranking vitamins on something called ODI (optimal daily intake) which is a made up term. I also don't see that they actually tested anything, just compared ingredients. True testing would mean that if somethingn said it had 1000 IU of vitamin D3, that it actually contained that amount - they didn't perform these studies. There is another company called ConsumerLabs that actually does test, but I have read that they get lots of funding from vitamin compnaies, so that is always suspicious. I have never really taken the time to investigate any of it any further so I'd appreciate hearing from someone if they have looked into this issue. I no longer take supplements, only vitamin D, but I am still curious if there are good studies out there.

:iagree: with Mary Beth,

That's an unknown lab, consisting of 3 individuals, supposedly formed in 2005. Like Mary Beth, I would prefer to see test results that actually mean something, rather than ratings based on arbitrary criteria.

And this is why I come to the oracles of knowledge!!! Thanks Mary Beth and Tex!! I was a little depressed with the scoring results, since many were so low and the high scoring vitamins were ridiculously priced! Going to stay with my Pure Encapsulations for now and not change.

Ever grateful,

Mandy

I haven't decided on which brand to use and am afraid of choosing one that will unknowingly cause me more problems. For now I'm not using any but wonder if I should. Always open for suggestions.
