Ok- I should get the award for the family with the "rarest" of diseases. MC, PSC, and now vestibular disease in my cat. This has absolutely nothing to do with MC but I am hoping someone else here may have some helpful information. My cat was diagnosed with vestibular disease in which her balance is now off. I took her in 2 weeks ago and she received some antibiotics and anti inflammatories to help. She tips over and falls off things all the time which has made me have to move the litter box to the first floor (don't like that at all) since she can't handle the steps and I've had to basically baby proof the house.
The first night I put her harness on and leashed her to me for her own safety. I tried kenneling her and it was awful. It worked but I got very little sleep. She's better now but still has problems with the stairs. She has the head tilt and is her normal happy, sweet self but is a bit of a special needs cat now. It's very stressful for me but there's not much I can do- she's my baby.
All the reading I've found is informative but not very helpful. Anyone have any experience in this? I was hoping it would resolve but I'm wondering if she'll be mildly effected for life.

We feel so helpless when our pets are ailing.
I had a golden retriever who suddenly developed vestibular problems - he kept falling over and wasn't even able to balance on one leg to pee. The vet said it was a vestibular problem of older dogs (I forget the name of it) , and that it would get better over time. It did! It took some months and he was as good as new! Absolutely no lingering issues. Now, I don't know if this can happen to cats, but maybe so. We just had to be really careful to protect him until he improved, just like you are doing with your kitty. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
