OMG! I am eating! HALLELUYAH!
Bonsoir y'all!
Guess what did it? ELAVIL, the antidepressant in a small dose (10mg) relaxes the digestive tract and VOILA, I started eating.
You heard me complain for 3 weeks now that I was not eating and sick, sick, sick...so, I am BETTER. Not overdoing any of it, just 5 things, maybe...hey, but it's better than going SANS food at all!
so, dear friends, thank you for holding my hand (don't let go, I still need you guys) and comforting me during my dark days. Nausea gone, dyspepsia much better...so, maybe there is light at the end of that tunnel, if I dare dreamin'
Love you all,
Monique

YEE HAW Monique..............glad to hear you are feeling better. Hadn't seen you post for a few days and was wondering if your health got the better of you and just had you really down. Great news for you and hopefully you will continue on feeling well!!!! Those other foods will come shortly for you I hope!!!
Update for me on my blood sugars..................YEE HAW now the highest in this past week has been 142 lowest 101. I think I'm home free of my diabetic meds. My doc is thrilled!!!! I see him next week but we have emailed about the blood sugar levels. Now he said........."if I can just get you to quit smoking...haha"
Keep up your good work.

Hi Monique,
That's great news. Like Cathy, I was beginning to be concerned about you, so it's certainly nice to see some good news.
I have a hunch that stress suppression is the primary benefit of antidepressants for treating MC. They probably help to restrict the inappropriate degranulation of mast cells.
Love,
Tex
P. S. I love your southern French accent.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Great news!! I take the generic of Elavil (amitriptlyine). Have been taking it for 20 years!! It does work well for the stomach but I've been on it for so long that I guess I need more it. My cardio doctor even mentioned upping the dose cause it does help but turned it down for now. It's a different type of antidepressant than the SSRI's. I take 25 mg a day. You are taking a very, very low dose and it's working for you and that is great! Just a warning....they are extremely difficult to get off of. That's why I'm still on it and probably never will get off of them. I have a tried a few times but the symptoms were just too severe and it gave diarrhea as well when I weaned off. Don't want to feel that way ever again. So glad its working for you and you can eat again. I'm eating too again....thanks to Pepto.

WOW! Look at all the friends showing up at my front door!
Thank you Tex, both Cathys, Polly, Leah, Ant, Gloria, fish, mz...(did I forget anybody?)!
The reason I disappeared was because I was prescribed a 25mg dose of Elavil which knocked me flat out on my French derriere in no time. They say to take it at night because it will put you to sleep...well, it did do that, all right...except that it put me to sleep day AND night. I couldn't keep my eyes open. So I went down to 10mg and that did the same! So, I figured out when to take this thing so that I can stay awake during daytime. I started taking it at 11pm but I was still sleeping the following day. So now I take it at 8pm and I am still sleepy in the morning, not too bad and I take some really loooong naps at midday. So, if you ever try it, take it real early in the evening!
So, I read all your posts during my MIA days but was too sleepy to answer!
From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for the good wishes...I am better, eating limited stuff and waiting for my enterolab results so that I can narrow down this thing...I have no energy yet but maybe eating will give me some strength in the days ahead.
Love you all,

LOL! Yes, that drug works like a sedative. I've always taken it around 8:00 every evening. I started at 12.5 mg and slept well but just for 8 hours. Now up to 25 mg as I mentioned before and body is so used to it that it far from knocks me out anymore. Your body will get used to it and you shouldn't feel so out of it all day then. Glad it's working for you! That drug has kept me alive and sane for 20 years!

Hi Terri,
I am thinking about taking it at 7pm. I slept this morning until 10 am. I hope my body gets used to it quick! I spend my mornings deciding whether I should go back to bed or stay passed out on my couch tough decision ;-)
Love,
Monique
