I used to take Elavil also, to help control migraine pain. I had to stop taking it because it was causing extreme skin flushing and photosensitivity. I've recently read that Elavil can be a cause of MC...or am I wrong?

Woo Hoo
fantastic news......

:australianflag:

rest and let your body recover, and keep to the minimal ingredients for while to optmise healing..
when you get the enterolab results, dont make too many drastic changes at once
our bodies are a very delicate chemistry system . . .. . .

this is the rainbow after the storm, in MC world. Things do get better.

Hi,

Gabes----good to hear from you! You're right, I have to be super careful...I don't really know what sends me off the cliff. I never knew that we could be so sensitive. It is a learning experience for me. I still don 't understand why I did so well after I was severely sick, put on meds and had a honeymoon of about 8 months (with pasta, wine and bread). Then as they say, all hell broke loose and have been yo-yoing for the last 6 months . A mystery to me...

Pam---I am having a bit of flushing, but it's tolerable...didn't hear that Alevil can bring on MC, I'm going to defer to the experts, Tex and Polly.

Thanks for all the good wishes.

Love,

Monique

Hi Pam,

Thank you for caring and posting--yep, diabetes and LC is a one-two punch...some days I don't know which one to take care of...

even with my MC fairly healed and technically in remission, even something like a change in water supply or drastic change in my eating times can cause a change in BM for me

I am lucky that via 2 years of keeping the journal, i now know pretty much everything that can cause inflammation.
and just when i think i have it figured out, something new appears and i have to tweak things a bit.....
never a dull moment in MC world

Gabes----you said it beautifully. Here's what I say about MC:

IT IS CONSISTENTLY INCONSISTENT  (let that be my new tagline :-)

Monique - sounds GREAT! Long may it last!

All anti depressants make you sleepy for up to 3 weeks until your body adjusts. I have been in that situation. Impossible to fight. So sleep. And eat your 5 foods until you feel better.

Glad you are getting better!

Yes, tricyclic antidepressants such as amitriptyline are known to cause MC for many people (though not everyone). We have several members who can trace the origin of their MC back to amitriptyline.
