Hi Pam,

Glad the Budesonide is working for you! I still need to do the Enterolabs as well. BTW, Imodium is my miracle drug...lol! I just had to say in regards to the blood pressure meds, I started taking a beta blocker in March and 2 weeks later came down with WD. Got off of it...got back to normal...then doc put me on another beta blocker and the WD came back two weeks later, then another, then another till I couldn't take it anymore and got off them completely. Was hoping that this would get me back to normal, but it didn't and was diagnosed with LC in July. The beta blocker definitely triggered it but now I have the disease and the intolerances that go with it and still need to tweak my diet some. I was hoping that my not taking the beta blocker would make me go back to normal, but I suppose the damage has been done.

I'm currently doing the 8-week Pepto treatment as I find OTC drugs extremely effective for me. However, after the 8 weeks, I'm sure the D will come back but it was getting better anyway so hopefully can nip this in the bud. Just like you I worry when I taper off a drug. I will just get on Imodium for a little while I suppose till symptoms go away. It's rough but we'll get there!

I'm also at high risk for diabetes so kinda nervous about that. One things seems to lead to another.

Best of luck to you,

Terri

Hi Pam,

Love to see others with Type I on the forum! I have also been type I since 10, 28 yrs, have lupus and probably celiac. I have had a rough time trying to get the MC under control, and thought I would share a few things I have figured out. The budesonide in and of itself did not actually cause my BG to go high, the consitipation did. I tried to wean off Entocort too early and it made me struggle to get back to normal, so try to stick with it. The Entocort and resulting high BG (my docs suspected gastroparesis too) caused yeast overgrowth which caused its own diarrhea. I also suffer from SIBO (from diabetes and celiac) and have had to eliminate all grains and sugars. I took some penicillin (for strep) recently and that helped with the SIBO. I also take VSL3 which helps a lot, and am taking Diflucan right now.

All of that to say, I have had a rough time, and hopefully you won't have the same issue I have had. Wanted to throw them all out there in case you get stuck! We don't heal as quickly as others that don't have diabetes, and other issue tend to come up. I think the pump will allow you to adjust well for crazy blood sugars.

Welcome to the board! Susie
