Dr Oz show on Gluten sensitivity

Post by wonderwoman »

Last night(9/27/12) Dr Oz had a show titled IS GLUTEN SECRETLY DESTROYING YOUR HEALTH?

He had Neal Barnhart, MD on his show talking about gluten sensitivity. I taped the show and watched it this morning. I found it was great for making the public aware of all the symptoms this intolerance can cause.

I did a search on his shows and found the show on line. You can watch it here in its entirety.

Later on in the show he had a girl demonstrating GF recipes. My concern is she used oats and didn’t mention GF oats. She also used dairy in her products.

Thanks for sharing!!

I'm one of those people who showed positive bloodwork for Celiac (very high) but tested negative with biopsy. Very weird as I've heard that pretty significant damage to the villi has usually occurred to get a very positive bloodwork. So that kind of confuses me....maybe it's just attacking my colon instead of the villi in my small intestines?

Yes, someone should have brought up the fact that oats are often contaminated. Or that Celiacs sometimes can't handle the protein in any oats.

I really wish sometimes that I was only diagnosed with Celiac rather than LC as getting off Gluten has been easy for me but having to give up salads, lots of veggies and nuts, etc. is making it very hard on me. I managed to get rid of some symptoms but that nasty D hangs around when I'm not taking anything for it.

Again, thanks for sharing. I really need to buy Tex's book as things are really confusing to me. And I have no idea what leaky gut is and if I have or not.

Best of luck to you and hope you do well without the Entocort for a long time. (Read one of your other posts.)

Thanks Charlotte. I just watched it. I had to laugh a little when he said to see your doctor about it. We all know what most doctors will say :)
