Post Family doc appt after fasting blood test

Post by cjbndtsn »

Monique,
Well you were right.........my fasting blood test for my Lipids(all my cholesterol levels).........perfect(better than ever but WAY better than 3 months ago. THey were the worst ever).........so High Cholesterol meds reduced, Hemaglobin A1C went from 7.3(3 months ago) to 6.1.......beautiful.....no more Diabetic meds, CBC Diffs........perfect, CMP's......like a poster child!!!! Oh yea and my blood pressure again 96 over 66...........this was an extra.....1 blood pressure med removed. He said the next 3 months may take away the 2nd blood pressure med.
My doc was so impressed and said he couldn't believe the difference in 3 months. I told him 3 months ago that I never had results so bad in years..........that was 1 month into CC starting and at that point it wasn't even dx yet. I complained then that whatever got a hold of me had to be the reason why my results then were so bad. But this weeks tests were by far the best ever. GF I'm telling you was the big chg for me and then the Entocort relief. Put 2 lbs back on since the lowest drop but he told me that can flex 2 lbs different everyday depending on water retention and such. He wasn't worried. Fact he said he was incredibly pleased and earlier this week when my brother went in to him.........my brother told him.....I'm going GF like Cathy. Its completely chgd her so he was happy to see brother trying to improve his habits as well. I'd probably still be sitting here with WD issues and still feeling crappy if I hadn't found this forum. So my thanks to all of you as well for leading, prodding, suggesting GF. I'll never go back from here. I'm completely content with GF diet.
THanks to all
Cathy

Cathy,

That's what I call showing your doctor how to go about improving your health. Congratulations!

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

OK gang......here's another update......yesterday family doc...........today 1st appt with "NEW" GI doc. I needed to get rid of that bad egg I started with. I love this guy, he sat and talked to me for a long time, he admitted they do not know "the cause" of CC and what triggered it but he wanted to know my whole story and what was happening in my life before this started. He loves the GF idea(even though the 1st GI said GF has nothing to do with CC) he told me that a lot of CC folks can also be positive for Celiac even though a blood test showed negative. For a while I thought I was reading Tex's book because he was actually talking some of the same talk. WOO HOO...................I love this guy and this will definately relieve the stress of having to go back to my 1st GI that always made me feel like an idiot. Been 2 good days of doc appts and again............I feel great. Shoot gonna have to go back to work I'm so bored now!!!!
Thanks again to everyone for the best advice of my life............."Go GF"!!!!!

Cathy,

I just read your post to my diabetic husband who has been resisting going GF. Maybe someday I'll be able to convince him.

Gloria,
I'm lucky enough that I don't seem to have trouble with any other major foods such as dairy, eggs.....etc. Going GF was really one of the easiest things I've ever done. I've found really good bread so once or twice a week I can have a sandwich or toast and I make the best garlic bread ever with Udi's white bread. Veggies, Fruits, salads and meat and potatoes. Lots of good chicken with GF BBQ sauce, cooked veggies........and many many more. Tell him it really wasn't hard to transform to it. If he is a sweets person.......Udi's makes the best muffins with just being nuked 15 secs from fridge or 30 sec from freezer..............taste fresh out of the oven and warm. He can do it and he would find its not so bad. It does limit eating out because I don't trust most places but in that aspect.......I'm saving money!!!!! Mind you I was, and have always been, with the attitude.........I can eat whatever I want.....I don't need a special diet to survive attitude. Well CC changed that outlook on life big time!!!! Hope it helps to transform your husband....
