You are right Liz. I look forward to getting the quilt store catalog that comes in the mail. Not only lots of neat patterns to grab ideas from, but stashes of fabric mixes that just scream with ideas. I even got some for a quilter's challenge in the spring, but I have yet to finish that quilt. I got sick at the wrong time. I still like the idea I had, so will finish it some day...that one is just a wall quilt.
I keep trying to get to various quilters shows around here, but I seem to always have something else going on that day! One of these days.

Well, guess one has to ask someone from Australia to find out about one's own home town!
Actually, I finally got a chance to see the newspaper, and there it was, a great big ad for the "INTERNATIONAL Quilt Festival" or something like that.
My grandmother and aunts used to make quilts, and through the years, they made some for us. I remember having one just the right size for a child's bed. I must've worn the thing out, I loved it so. We should still have a big bed one, but I've stored it away in a safe place, I'm sure. Don't want that one getting worn out!
Seems to me that we had some mighty cold days when I was a child, but I suspect it had something to do with the house I grew up in as it didn't have central heat, and leaked a lot -- bad news on a blustery winter's day.
Perhaps I need to hunt that quilt down and get it ready to use this winter. May have to leave the window open to have it cold enough in the bedroom.
By the way, I think it's funny the way Aussie's pronounce "Houston." Guess your friend thinks it's funny the way we pronounce it here. Did you know that they have such a place in New York state?
Hope you can come along with your friend sometime. That way I'd get to meet you!

I must say I was impressed with this lady from the quilt show who was interviewed regarding any inconvenience in terms of hotel rooms close by the Convention Center.
She was so jolly and upbeat, and said they didn't mind at all being in some of the hotels that were outside of the downtown area.
If all of you quilters are as cheerful as you and she are, perhaps it's the company more than all those little pieces of cloth? Do you think there's something to this theory of mine? Don't be modest now! Ha!

Must be what takes all the agro away 
Just do a bit of quilting and all your cares just slip away. Although cutting it all up can be a bit of a trial sometimes. The joy of seeing the resulting pattern takes care of that though.
Maybe I will go one day. My younger sister loves the USA and spent 3 months over there last year, her second trip. If she goes again I should go with her and could say "hello" to everyone on the board as we tour around. Wouldn't it be great.
Get that quilt out and snuggle under it. Should be getting cool enough in your neck of the woods soon I guess.
