Tilapia

Post by gluten »

Hi, After watching an ad on T.V about a frozen Tilapia fish product, I decided to look up the source of the fish. When, I read the article " Popular Fish, Tilapia Contains Potentially Dangerous Fatty Acid " www.sciencedialy.com/releases/2008/07/08070809228.htm , I decided not to buy the product. I always look at where the food products come from because of the quality of the water and the use of pesticides and antibiotics that are banned in this country. Jon

OK, you have pulled my head out of the sand. I love tilapia, but will have to stop eating it. At WF they told me their tilapia is fed decent food, and no antibiotics. I can't eat salmon.

I just saw this while I was researching here and I love tilapia, so I did some searching and this was just one article that I found that I thought was interesting as to the safety of tilapia:
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/tilapia/MY00167

Farm raised tilapia are fed corn and soy, so I imagine anyone with those intolerances should probably avoid it, but it tastes SO good........
