Entocort question

Post by Rhyes »

Hello everyone, I hope everyone is doing well. I'm still dealing with horrible symptoms! Today in the mail I received an advertisement from a Canadian Pharmacy stating that they have over 1500 medications that are much cheaper. They have 100 3mg Entocort for $89.99. I haven't been able to get a prescription for it because it is so expensive and I have no insurance. My Gastro checked to see if they have a generic version yet because they want to prescribe it to me and they don't. What is the usual dosage per day? If it is only 3mg per day, then that would be 100 days worth and would most likely be a life saver for me. I can easily afford that. The website for the company is www.totaldrugmart.com. Does anyone think that it is legitimate and should I get my gastro to write a scrip and order it? Any advice would be appreciated. Also, how can it be so much more inexpensive than in the states?
Just an FYI and I'm sure most of you know, but the Flagyl (antibiotic) did not work at all. My gastro also gave me some free samples of CREON (pancrelipase) that I'm supposed to take with each meal. I haven't started it yet. It is apparently an enzyme that your pancreas produces. She said that she has no idea why I can't get control of my symptoms and wanted me to try it in case this is related to my pancreas. (not news I like to hear from my doctor) I will probably try it just to see. At this point I would eat dirt if I thought it would help ;) Thanks again everyone.

Hi,

The normal dosage of Entocort, (budesonide), is 9 mg per day, (3 capsules).

Most members who do not have insurance, order generic budesonide, (Budez CR), from the overseas pharmacy at the link below. They are located in India, but they are reliable, and so far, no one has been disappointed. The product works just as well as the name brand product.

Prescriptions written by a U, S. doctor are not valid outside the country, so this pharmacy does not require a prescription, (Canadian pharmacies do require a prescription, for some strange reason. 270 capsules, ( a 90 day supply, at 9 mg per day), will cost $121.50, plus shipping.

Also, how can it be so much more inexpensive than in the states?
Simple. The pharmaceutical companies are ripping us off. All drugs are much cheaper, everywhere else in the world.

Good luck. It takes at least 2 or 3 weeks to receive an order from overseas, but the savings are worth it.

Your pancreas is not the problem, your doctor is just lost and doesn't understand MC, (like most GI docs).

Pricing Entocorte & Budesonide

Post by coryhub »

Great link Tex! That is a really good deal for Entocort. I just paid $120 using my useless USA health insurance and only got 90 - 3 mg. capsules of generic Budesonide. Next time, I will use your India link so I can receive 270 capsules for the same price.
This is the first time for me to buy the generic. I'm not sure if it is my imagination but it does not seem to be working as well as the non-generic. It's been less than a week so the jury is still out.

Thanks for the info. Tex. I will check that site out and hopefully give this a try. Yeah, I didn't think it was my pancreas either. I probably won't try that drug. They have prescribed so many drugs that I'm surprised I'm still walking and talking :) I'm still trudging through this though, it's all I can do!

Just went through the 10 day course of Flagyl - No results except to lose my sense of taste and smell. Gastro recommended Creon because he said my pancreas was not working correctly. After 4 weeks of severe nausea on Creon I finally stopped the drug. Nothing controled the D but now I was constantly vomiting due to the Creon. Sounds like we have the same Gasto Dr... Let me know how you make out. Good Luck

Hi,

I take a medicine like Entocort. My dose is 9 mg a day. When I finally feel better, i can lower the dose. Then I have to do one day 9 mg, one day 6 mg, then 9 mg again, ...

It's so strange that it is so expensive in America. In Belgium it costs 80 euros, but you get a reduction and so you only pay about 20 euros.

I hope this helped you. My GI doesn't seem to knwo how to get my symptoms under control. Have you tried a gluten-free diet? Most people here benefit from that. I am currently on a gluten-free diet. I don't really know for certain if it's working because I've only started a week ago.

I wish you the best of luck and I hope that you get well soon.

DigestaCure ???

Post by crystalmears »

Hello,
I'm new to this support group, and I'm so happy to have found this support group.

I was diagnosed in July 2011 with lymphocytic colitis. My GI doctor prescribed Entocort ( I got the generic Budesonide). This helped a lot..... but was so expensive I stopped taking it.

My GI doctor said I could take Lomotil for the 'rest of my life', if I needed to so and I have been taking this 'as needed'.

Recently, my colitis symptoms reoccured. While doing Internet research, I ran across a web site for DigestaQure (I've also seen this spelled Digesta Cure). This is an Aloe Vera based medicine that has 'wonderful' reviews on the web site. I realize you can't always 'believe' everything you read on the Internet.

Has anyone in this group tried DigestaCure? I'm very 'tempted' to order a bottle, but like to hear from someone who has actually taken the drug. Thanks very much!

Hi Crystal,

Welcome to the board. Actually, most people find that that Imodium works just as well for them as Lomotil, and you don't need a prescription to buy Imodium. Some people find that it works better for them than Lomotil, but we're all different, so the only way to find out is to try both and compare the results. Since Imodium doesn't contain a narcotic ingredient, it's probably safer than Lomotil for long-term use.

To the best of my knowledge, no one here is using that aloe-derived product. For one thing, this disease cannot be cured, and any product that is suggested as a cure is typically a scam. If that product actually worked, everyone with an IBD would surely be using it by now, because IBDs are miserable diseases and they're difficult to control.

Again, welcome aboard, and please feel free to ask anything.
