A Possible Link Between Gum Disease And Pancreatic Cancer

Post by tex »

Hi All,

Researchers have determined an epidemiological connection between certain bacteria associated with gum disease and pancreatic cancer. Note that this is not a proven cause and effect relationship, but interesting, nevertheless, since the correlation indicates that certain oral bacteria double the risk of the development of pancreatic cancer. This suggests that it might be prudent for anyone who has gum disease to be occasionally screened for the markers of pancreatic cancer, in order to catch it at an early stage in the event that it should develop.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
