I've been using the Nioxin shampoo and conditioner (not the scalp treatment) for almost 2 wks now and I have to say it seems to be helping, especially in the texture of my hair. Obviously too early for anything to have grown, but my hair used to be flat and lifeless and now it looks much fuller. I don't mind the smell.
Resolved MC symptoms successfully w/L-Glutamine, Probiotics and Vitamins, GF since 8/'09. DX w/MC 10/'09.
Monique,
I am speechless! I can't believe that as a Type 1 diabetic you are indeed casein tolerant---your Enterolab results defy ALL logic and reason to me. After studying so much about the link to casein to T1D from so many sources, including Dr. Fasano.....it makes no sense to me!!!!
What a gift of joy and good fortune to be able to eat cheese and dairy. Being from Minnestota and Wisconsin originally, I grew up on a mostly cheese diet:
Home-made macaroni and cheese;
Wine and cheese for dinner;
Fresh cheese curds from the dairy;
Beer-battered deep fried cheese curds;
Fresh mozarella caprese salad;
All Italian and Mexican food loaded with cheese;
Grilled cheese sandwiches (my FAV!);
Just ALL cheese...
A couple of years ago, pre-MC Dx but living on the loo, I went pescatarian, kept the dairy but told everyone when I made the diet change that I could not ever give up cheese and if I was on a deserted island with one thing only it would be a wheel of Brie---hahaha
Oh well, as long as I have my head in the sand and haven't had the testing done I can still have hope!
Paula, I am with you on this one---sometimes I don't want to see the Enterolab and MRT because I am still "mourning" the loss of my favorite foods.
Wishing you well and happiness, Monique with your great news. I hope you're well and your sugars are stable!
Cheers,
Pam

Please give more details on what the Enterolab food sensitivity test consists of.
I understand it's a stool sample. Does it matter what you have been eating prior to submitting the stool sample?
I have put myself on a gluten free diet and am eating a lot of grilled chicken and rice. Today I added canned green beans at lunch with the grilled chicken. My belly swelled up like a puffer fish about 2 hours later. I also had major gas and some minor D....no major incidents.
Thanks in advance....I appreciate all the posts on this support site!

Crystal,
The best place to start, IMO, is on the Enterolab website: https://www.enterolab.com there is a FAQ section that should answer most questions.
It doesn't matter what you've been eating prior to having the stool test. I'd been GF for 4 months and was still highly reactive. I would guess that your reaction today would have been the beans, lots of us have issues with any kind of bean. My husband has an allergy to beans that he only learned about 6 months ago after Elisa testing. He had a bad reaction to something he ate yesterday and found that it contained guar gum, which is made from beans.
If you have insurance that would cover the Elisa testing, that's also a good place to start.
Good luck, welcome to the funny farm.

Hey Pam,
Well, I was just as shocked as you are to find out that I could have cheese! I had been DF for over nine months already so it took about one hour after I got the test for me to make a mad dash through the supermarket and load up on all-things dairy. I went slow though because I was afraid I may react after so many months without it.
Anyway, I am happy. I am testing to make sure the test is indeed correct ;-)
I've had a good week and half. I started taking Elavil and that calm down the GIT. I started eating and that is a good thing...diabetes is OK.
Thanks for the good wishes, Pam. Wishing you the best as well.
Love to all,
Monique
Connie----I think Tex should have called this site thefunnyfarm instead of perskyfarms

Monique,
You're probably right, but the reason why this domain is called perskyfarms is because it was originally a commercial website for my corn business. When the old discussion board started heading south in a hurry, rather than to try to set up a new domain, I added a discussion board to what I already had, and threw away most of the original pages on the site.
IOW, it was a matter of convenience, rather than a matter of choice. You can't change a domain name — you can only abandon it and start over with a new domain if you don't like the old name.
Incidentally, it's good to hear that things are going so much better now.
Love,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Tex I just came across this and I wanted to tell you....you can have another domain name point to the same website. In other words, you could have another domain name point to this board, so it would be reachable from www. whateveryouwant.com AND www.perskyfarms.com. I was an IT Administrator before I stopped working to stay home with my kids. Just wanted to let you know that it's possible in case you wanted to have a new name, though I don't think any of us here care. :)

Hi Robin,
Actually, I do have a couple of other domains that point to this one. One, microscopiccolitis.net, does nothing but point to this one by way of the nameservers (as you described), while the other is a website that contains background information and info on the history of MC discussion boards, and it links to this one, of course. If you click on the link at the very top of any page of this discussion board (the one labeled "Go to Home Page"), it will take you to that site (microscopiccolitis.org).
Thanks, I appreciate your suggestions.
