Interesting. I have wondered if I am (have become?) a super taster. I used to love brussels sprouts and broccoli. Now they both taste bitter to me. I also used to think cilantro tasted like soap. Now I love it. I was really grossed out by a lot of gluten free products when I started this journey. I discovered it was tapioca starch, which even Bob's Red Mill admitted there was an issue with. I still smell it to double-check but it is usually okay these days...apparently it was a bad batch (on a large scale).

Interesting. Liver is another thing that tastes bitter to me, and I don't have sinus problems.

Thanks for posting that.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

What about people who know that these foods taste bitter, but like it that way? I like brussels sprouts and things like arugala - even though I know they are bitter.I don't get very many nasal infections or upper respiratory problems ( which is amazing considering I am IgA deficient) ??????

I guess I'm a super taster. I hate Brussel sprouts and all of its nasty relatives, however, I've had chronic nasal allergies and occasional sinusitis (though not for yrs) since childhood. Since going GF and starting the semi-paleo diet my nose has stopped running like a faucet when I eat and that's a big plus. Wish the allergies would take a hike.

Interesting that GF bread, rolls, cookies etc just didn't taste good when I started the diet. Eliminating tapioca starch and substituting arrowroot has improved the taste of my homemade bread, cookies etc. When toasted the newest bread machine recipe tastes better than gluten bread. That makes me really happy.

I used to hate cilantro too, Deb, now I don't know how I'd live w/o it. I also have a problem with tapioca, but can't say that I've actually USED all the Bob's Red Mill mixes that are still unopened here, guess I will have to actually try them. I've always eaten broccoli, so much so that on my first allergy tests many years ago when I had the peeling skin issues, they showed up as a false allergen, along with almonds.

Tex, Leah & Sheila, at some point I expect there will be a definitive answer why..for all of this..we can only hope.
