High risk of a Super Storm
A Powerful Northeast Storm will probably be the result of the merging of Wilma and Alpha in the Atlantic.
Heavy rainfall winds will be quite gusty. Wind gusts on Tuesday will near 40 mph in Philadelphia, 50 mph in New York City and near 60 mph in Boston. In fact, it is not out of the question that hurricane-force winds will be felt along the New England coastline late on Tuesday. Beach erosion, rip currents and tidal flooding are also likely along the East Coast on Tuesday and Wednesday. Add to top off the onslaught of bad weather, cold air will funnel southward from Canada on the west side of this storm. This will lead to rain changing to snow in many mountain ranges through the Northeast. Read full story: ACCUWEATHER
Worst Case Scenario Would Bring Wild Weather to the East Coast
The combination of Wilma heading north and a storm system developing along the immediate East Coast will create a strong nor'easter that will move up the New England coastline. The storm will carry Atlantic moisture up and over a dome of cold air over the Northeast. The result will be an extensive area of precipitation that will vary from a windswept rain along the coast to heavy snow in the interior regions.

Yes, we´ll have to pray because this is not over yet.
According to the weather forecast of Accuweather´s meteorologists, wind, rain, snow and flooding are expected in the Northeast. They also mention that this storm will be much different than the Perfect Storm of 1991. That storm, formed in part by the remnants of Hurricane Grace, produced little rain, but strong persistent winds along the coast spawned huge seas, along with extensive wave damage and flooding.
So, please, all members living close to Philadelphia, New York City and, above all, Boston: prepare and be safe.

The SuperStorm is currently producing winds over 40 mph from New Jersey to New England. Martha's Vineyard, Mass., reported a peak wind of 49 mph and reports of winds up to 50 mph have been received from the New Jersey coast and Long Island, Ny.
The strongest winds and the potential for damage and even power outages will occur across eastern New England today. Winds in that area are forecast to gust up to 60 mph. Given the already soggy ground, the winds could easily cause trees to be blown over.
Heavy rain will also impact parts of eastern Pennsylvania , eastern New York and New Jersey where flooding of small streams and creeks will occur.
The SuperStorm is forecast to move up along the New England coast tonight and be in the Canadian Maritimes by midday Wednesday

Some good news
The two storms we are dealing with today have remained separate entities, and that's a good thing. Wilma is racing off toward the North Atlantic and is having no direct impact on the weather across the Northeast. However, the storm did shed some moisture to the west which was absorbed by the storm on the coast. The result has been an extensive area of rain with heavy snow falling in the Appalachians. Fortunately, the hurricane did not join the game, or weather conditions in the Northeast would have been far worse. Story by AccuWeather.com expert senior meteorologist John Kocet.

I am happy about it.
At least some good news.

I have been watching the weather here too Tessa. We are not getting anything except colder weather and rain, and occasional heavy winds. I do hope everyone goes to where they will be safe. It is just awful hearing about the places where there is no safe place for them to go, I can't imagine going through the kinds of storms forcasted.
Be safe,
Hugs
