Surgery is a "GO" as scheduled
It seems that the fellow that called me yesterday and told me it was 44,000 dollars wasn't looking at his paper work right. My insurance pays 80 percent according to Dr. Hughes Nurse and what's left is 12,000 Dollars. That I can live with...not 44K$ So The hospital tried to see if I could qualify for help they reserve for disability and etc. Mike makes too much money...but not enough to pay all the bill....anyway it is better than the 44k oqriginally told to me. I called the surgeons office this am and said I cannot afford to get a loan at 18 percent to have you operate on me so I am cancelling surgery....the nurse said...no don't cancell what happened. So I told her and she said let me make some calls and call you back Mrs Pettigrew. She called back in 30 min and said the guy you talked to yesterday will be calling you...Do Not Cancell yet! He called and said he made a mistakes on the codes attached to the paprwork...anyway to make a long story short...surgery is on again. I feel a bit better about it all this time. Still nervouse but what the hey huh? Love Oma
Hi Oma,
It's a relief to see that you're making some progress. That sounds a lot better.
There's still one minor problem. $12, 000 is 20% of $60,000, not $44,000, but you can work out those details later. At least now they're talking your language.
It's hard to believe that guy in accounting could continue to make that many mistakes, and keep his job, but maybe they keep him om the payroll because he makes a lot of money for the hospital from people who don't know any better, and have plenty of money.
Love,
Wayne
P S It's natural to be nervous, but you'll do just fine. You've got a good, level head on your shoulders, and you know what you're doing.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I'm really nervous now...because the company I work for had no family medical leave if you haven't been there for a year. April 4 will be one year. So I will be terminated probably this weekend. Isn't that just Nice? But I will recieve notice from the insurance that I can continue on my own with them once they have recieved a term notice for me. About two weeks I will hear from them. Aint it great? I will not be going back to this company. I will seek work elsewhere. I am trying not to whine here...but it's real hard to not do that. Love Oma
Oma,
You have every right to whine. Fate has dealt you a pretty tough hand.
You're caught between a rock and a hard place, but you can handle it. You might be soft and feminine on the outside, but inside, you're tough, like the West Texas land you live on, and you can handle whatever fate dishes out to you. We believe in you, and we'll always support you.

Oh man!
I couldn't have said it any better than Tex. Hang in there my friend! We will be here for you throughout it all. It would have been nice for the company to have told you this was going to happen. Dang it all!
Lots of hugs coming your way!

Hi Oma
I am very happy about it.
It seems you will not be able to avoid the operation, eh?
Things manage to solve when they have to be carried out...
Take care and go on with it.
Love,
Tessa
BTW, what a terrible mistake he did on the phone... 44.000!!!

Dear Oma, I just can't believe the cost of all this? How can anyone afford to take care of their health??? Even having the additional cost of 12,000.00 still sounds like an awful burden. The last thing you need to have to worry about is how are you going to pay for the surgery. Your time and energy should be going towards taking care of yourself. In Canada we tend to not even think of the cost, since it is covered one way or another through our government health care, and additional coverage through our places of work. I do hope for your sake that there is additional help for you too. There must be something that is available. It is just not right that you have this burden on top of worrying about all the pain and recovery time you will need. I am so sorry about all this Oma. Keep us posted, and take care.
Gentle hugs
Wendy

Oma just concentrate on the most important thing, recovering from your op and being able to get around without pain. I am sure another, probably better job will be around the corner. I would be looking into the $12.000 cost. If they can make one mistake like that, perhaps there is another and that amount may be reduced. Heres hoping.

Oma,
Good luck today and I agree with everything Tex has said. Do not worry there will be a job for someone like you who has so much spunk and great attitude towards work. $12K is a bundle but just pay as you can. They won't be chasing you.
Love and good luck, Maggie
