Update fight w/hospital over money...new development

Ok This fellow that messed up yesterday called me again today and said: that the hospital is going to knock off 9,000$ after insurance pays which was about 18,000$ which would leave us with 9,000$ to pay if we can put up at least 5,000$ dollars. I told Him I wasn't sure I could put up that much. Our credit is really good and of course our credit cards are on the credit report. So I told this fellow to call tonight and talk to my husband and let him decide how we are paying this. I will be laid up and unable to work and apparently Jobless after next week. Since Mike will be paying the bill, it's up to him. SOOOOOOO.....I guess I bitched enough and this fellow making a mistake and making the doctor mad helped some. Because he mentioned that Dr.Hughes is widely respected at the hospital and they want to make him and I happy. And that the hospital would just break even with this deal...but if that was what it took to make things happen so be it. Anyway I am brain tired of it all and he can talk to Mike. I would not want to be him and have to listen to Mike tonight. In the meantime I have a guy who helps people get thier disability working for me on the other end of this to try and make disability happen for me. Hospitals amaze me....and Like someone said...they can help people if they want to but 9,000$ is better than it started out huh? I guess it's getting better. I'll check in later this evening for the last time for a few days. Did I do good so far as opposed to the begining? Love Oma

Well, it's getting better! Maybe after talking with Mike tonight, the price could be reduced even further! We can only hope, right?

Sounds to me like the man at the hospital was trying to lay a guilt trip on you - it was his mistake, not yours! What a way to upset people before surgery - geesh!

Yes it is sounding better Oma. I have been out of it for a few days, so I went back and read all your posts to catch myself up on what was going on with your health, and upcoming surgery. It is starting to be better, but doesn't it sound a little mixed up, I mean first they said 44,000, which was a mistake, then they said 12,000 that you would have to pay, and now they are saying that that figure should be 18,000, and they could reduce that to 9,000. Or by half. Why did they said 12,000.00 yesterday? Because half of that would be even better!!! I just think that it is not the way things should be when it comes to health care. You should not have barter for your health care??? I guess like I said before, we don't have to in Canada, so I suppose that is why I find it hard to fanthom anyone having to do it. I am glad that Mike will be talking to this person tonight, that will give you a break. I know that sometimes when I am not well I wish someone could just take over, and know that they would make sure my best interests would be taken care of. Sort of taking the weight off your shoulders for a while. I hope you get a chance to let us know how this all turns out. And if I don't get a chance to tell you before you go in for the surgery I will tell you now that I wish you the best. And hope that all goes as expected. I know there will be pain, but in the end I hope that you get the results you are looking for.

Thanks everyone...The name of the Hospital is Cummunity Medical Center The Number there is 325-949-9511..it's in San Angelo. I think the address is 3501 Knickerbocker anyway I only remember that from memory because of the dealings in the last few days. But I am going to check out the board and then get some tea...take a bath in Dial as the doc said to do and relax with Mike tonight. I may be away from the board for a few days. Will miss ya'll greatly Love Oma
