Christine, I am in mourning about the almond butter/flaxseed as well. I haven't really looked for a replacement but if it doesn't return shortly I will be looking. Deb

So that's why your nickname!! Mystery solved!

I was thinking about the finishes on fabric. Some fabrics make me itch like crazy, but some are OK once washed.

OH, yes, Drapery Goddess...I ran my own drapery workroom for several years, then in July I went to work for a fabric store as a design consultant. Unfortunately, yesterday I found out the store lost its lease and will be closing in December, so once again I will have to figure out something else jobwise. We have lots of medical bills between the two of us, and Matt is also job-hunting now, so I really need something with a reliable paycheck. Yet more stress.

Tex, is it possible the Vitamin D could actually be making things worse? I've been on Immodium since Saturday.

Cynthia,

Vitamin D has very few side effects. When vitamin D is processed in the body, magnesium is required to complete the process, and since most people either have a magnesium deficiency, or they ingest barely enough to get by, additional vitamin D might possibly create a magnesium deficiency, and this can cause the symptoms that are usually incorrectly attributed to vitamin D. The symptoms of magnesium deficiency can include:

Constipation

Jitteryness, hyperactivity, insomnia, anxiety

Heart Palpitations

Muscle Cramps

Restless leg syndrome

But I've never heard of it causing D, cramps, or other GI symptoms, except when extreme overdoses are continued over an extended period of time (such as 40,000 to 50,000 IU per day for several months or more). I've never heard of it causing a rash.

That said, we're all different, so the only way to find out for sure is by trial and error,

Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Tex,

Nope, those aren't the symptoms I'm experiencing. However, I went without all my supplements last night, and my stomach did seem more settled. I'm going to do some more trial and error with it once I get the D under control.

Lesley,

Thanks! Thursday was pretty awful--in one day I found out my husband lost his job, my sister had a mass on her ovary, and the store where I work is closing. (Thankfully, we found out yesterday that my sister's tumor is almost certainly benign--whew!) The timing is terrible, but I believe God always has a purpose in what He allows to happen in our lives, even if we can't see it yet. Taking it one day (hour??) at a time.

Cynthia, I know how you feel. I'm back to watery D and few things to eat. I even tried eliminating corn and rice and found No change. Stress is A big part of my issues too but there isn't much I can do but try to change how I react to stress at work. Sending a big hug to you, it sounds like you have a lot going on right now.

Does the sunflower nut butters cause any issues for anyone? I tried some sunflower seeds the other day out of frustration of being hungry for something different and I had sunflower burps all day long.

Oh Cynthia, I'm so sorry you are going through so much right now. Stress is a tough one to counteract. Yoga, meditation, deep breathing, and massage are all things that might help. Again, I hope things settle down quickly.

Hugs,
Leah

Hi Cynthia,

Sorry you are going thru all of this. Leah gave a good list of stress reducers. I would also add walks and meditative prayer to her list. My fave is yoga however.

Regards, Brandy

Chromium

Post by Nettie »

Hi Cynthia and Tex, Chromium is in many vitamin and herbal supplement combinations and is even in some of those nutritional supplement drinks! Chromium is one thing that was positive on my allergy patch testing and the allergist said it is even used in the leather tanning process. Told me to never ingest it so when i started looking for that in stuff it was such a surprise at how many things contain it. And the reason for the testing was the rashing and itching that started up even being gluten free for a long time. Little did i know then that a year later the CC would be found and likely it is tied to that condition. I hope you get some relief soon,it is an utterly miserable thing to have.

Thanks for the encouragement, everybody! I have started the application process for a new job, as has DH. My respiratory allergies are acting up this week (probably because I was already flaring!). For the past year, anytime I'm around wood smoke, my throat just closes up. Interestingly enough, i have discovered the same effect if I drink a regular (not diet) Coke! Haven't had either one in quite awhile, though...

I hope the job-hunting is successful for both you and your husband. You certainly have been through a lot of stress.

Cynthia, I get that same feeling from wood smoke. A major allergen for me is mold and I always assumed there was maybe mold on the wood. I also sometimes react to food that has been smoked though, so I'm not sure. I'm praying that your job hunting goes well. Hugs, Deb

Cynthia,
Have you ever thought of applying for disability vial social security? You can get it after being disabled for 2 years, applied retroactively. That could reduce a LOT of the stress you are feeling so you can feel better.
You can still work if you get it, but it will give you something to fall back on.
