Update

Post by Sharaine »

Dear Friends,

I've been away for a while, but have thought of you often. The year has flown right by me. My CC is still an issue, but it's much more controlled now than back in February when I was taking care of my Dad. I have found that eggs, green beans, kidney beans, strawberries and almonds are also issues for me in addition to gluten, casein, and oats. I've been trying Bob's Red Mill certified GF oats for the past two days to see if it's the oats or cross-contamination that is my issue. I haven't had any headaches, but I do end up with diarrhea about 3 hours after consumption. Thus, I'm thinking it's avenin. I do love my steel cut oats, but not if they're going to make me ill.

I have found that if I stick to a very strict gluten-free, dairy-free (except butter), legume-free, egg-free diet, sans almonds and strawberries, I do much better. Every once in a while Norman comes to vist. But then, bam, he's gone again after one or two appearances. Poof.

Tex, I bought your book and am reading it cover-to-cover. You did a great job!

Anyhow, I'll try to be back on here more frequently from here on out. I just wanted to say hello again.

Sharaine,

Thank you for an update. As a fellow Coloradan ( and newly diagnosed MCer), I especially miss your posts!

Hi Sharaine,

It's nice to get an updated report from you. I'm glad your MC is getting under control. It sounds like you're pretty good at figuring out your intolerances.

I hope your success continues.

Hi Sharaine,

It's good to see an update from you, and I'm glad to see that you're no longer having problems with headaches.

FWIW, 3 hours is how long it takes for oats to begin purging my digestive system, also. No cramps, or other symptoms — just D. :sigh:

Thanks for the kind words about the book.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Nice to hear from you again, Sharaine.

I'm glad things are going okay, and that you have pinpointed some of your other trigger foods.

Love,
Martha
