San Francisco restaurant suggestions?

Post by Zizzle »

I'm going to San Francisco for 5 days for the American Public Health Association Convention. It's held at the Moscone Convention Center and various surrounding hotels (Marriot Marquis, etc). I'll be working and walking around alot, so I can't afford serious cross-contamination. Are there any Bay Area Potty People with suggestions of where I might safely eat downtown? I imagine Bay Area restaurants are enlightened on food issues compared to the rest of the country. I plan to use Gluten Free Travel Site and my Gluten Free Registry app. Luckily I have one meal with gluten free family members in Berkley.

Sadly, I'm leaving my kids and hubby behind, just as hubby starts a new job on Monday, the Frankenstorm hits our area, and I fly back late on Halloween night.

Hi Zizzle,

I haven't been to San Francisco since MC diagnosis, but I found this article that may be of interest to you:

Hi Zizzle. You will be in my neck of the woods! There will be tons of people around starting on Wed. because of the SF Giants coming back in town for the world series. If you have the time to walk down there by the ball park, the feeling is great ( and so is the walk along the bay).

I have to say that when we go out to eat, I don't check whether they are "gluten friendly" or not . I just know what I can eat and keep it as simple as possible ( hamburgers with no bun, steaks, BBQ chicken, mexican...etc). There are lots of restaurants within walking distance of the convention center. There is also a great upscale food court under the Westfield Mall. It also has an upscale market where lots of prepared foods are sold by weight along with healthy produce and products - on Market street. Great mall :)

I only live 20 minutes from downtown, so if you'd like to get together, please let me know Any day but Tueday is good for me. I'd love to actually meet you :)

Hi Leah,

I hope you don't mind, but I hid your phone number so that it wouldn't be harvested by computer bots that crawl the web looking for personal contact data. Of course, that only hides it from bots. Any human would know that they can still see the number by clicking on the box.

The only really safe way to transmit a phone number is in a PM.

Leah,
I got your number in my phone so feel free to delete it. I arrive at SFO at 7:55 on Saturday night and I'm staying at the Triton hotel. Sunday is packed with meetings, and my evenings are booked, but I have some free time during the day. Do you work downtown by chance? I can meet up Monday between 10:00 am-2:00 pm, or breakfast Tuesday.

Hi Vera ( funny, i didn't even know that was your name.) I work here in Pacifica, but only in the morning and evenings because that's when people work out- mostly. I can easily drive into the city on Monday ( tomorrow) and be there by noon. Since I don't have your number, you will have to call or text me. I would have answered your message earlier, but i was out of town this weekend and don't have a smart phone. Hopefully, you have a way to get this message.

Leah & Zizzle - that's great the two of you can meet! Hope you have a great time.

Leah - I tried the crispy treats - they are delicious and better than the original rice krispie bars. That is the first time I've used coconut oil. I was sure missing a lot. That stuff is great. I didn't have any trouble with them.

Glad to heat it Paula. Zizzle told me the same thing today. The only problem is that it's hard to stop eating them :)
