Update on Oma's surgery

Post by Mars »

Talked to Mike (Oma's husband) a minute ago - Oma is in recovery and they are to talk to the doctor in a few minutes. Mike said everything seemed to have gone ok.

To let him get back to Oma, I told him I would talk to him in a few hours. I'll update you later.................

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

It is 4:44 Eastern time now (must be 3:44 in Texas). Spoke with Oma for a BRIEF minute! Mike said she was laying there drinking a coke and then handed her the phone. She was panting in pain while we spoke but seems to think everything went well.

I told her we all loved her and was thinking of her.

Thanks again Mars. The first little while after surgery is always so hard. Especially once the pain meds wear off!

Thanks for keeping us updated.

Gentle hugs

She is going to be fine now I am sure. She will have something for the pain and it is now just a matter of time to heal.

Please give Her my love Mars next time you speak to her. Image

Thanks for the updates, Mars. Glad Oma is out of surgery and recovery. Tomorrow they'll have her up on her feet! Hope the pain meds agree with her. Pain management is important! I'm sure she knows we are all thinking of her, but remind her anyway!!!

We are leaving Atlanta and heading west--to south Texas...eventually Tucson, so I won't be on the board much for a few weeks. We stop at libraries to check our email every so often but there probaby won't be much browsing time. We'll be :camping: so my fingers are crossed for good weather.

Take care, everyone. And good luck with rehab, Oma. Remember it keeps getting better and better!

Mars,

Thanks for the report. I've been thinking of OMA all day. It sounds as if surgery went well. WHEW.

Hazel,

I wish you were coming back my way again so that we could meet this time! Enjoy your time away. We'll miss you. Hopefully you can check in now and then.

Love,

Polly

Mars,

If you speak to Oma again, please give her my best. I hope she has been able to begin her physical therapy. They started me on mine the next day after surgery. My surgeon doesn't believe in the machines that exercise the knee - so I was up and about!

I'm so dreadfully behind on the posts I don't even know what Oma is having surgery for.
Anyway, happy to hear the operation is over and now she can begin to heal and recover.

Thanks, Mar - please send my best to her if you talk to her or her husband again. I'm sure greetings come from Peggy too.

Love - Momster

Mars and Momster,

Please pass along my well-wishes to our two patient-heroes. Sorry I'm so late with this, but I, too, think about our sick and injured on here as if they were my next of kin.
Funny how well it seems we know each other after a while.

You two take care of yourselves as well.
I'll probably not have time to for a while in preparation for the Respite trip to the Hill Country -- not to terribly far south of Wayne, matter-of-fact. This will include Austin and San Antonio for the lodging part, but we'll do indoor things of note at both places, perhaps more so in Austin. We plan to do the Imax thing on Texas history, and the other caregiver person on the trip is from the east coast, so that'll be good as a back drop to the rest of the trip. Sure need my memory refreshed after all this time.

Yours, Luce
