Hubby had a quadruple bypass today. He is doing great... better in fact, they tell me, than people way younger than 73! Ventilator is out and he is pretty much drugged up:)

The small world part... I went out for a cigarette late in the day and as I was walking out of this smoke free building/campus.. saw another lady with cigarettes.. she wanted to know where to smoke so showed her the easement with the highway..LOL Smokers are generally chatty people anyway.. turns out she has celiac! Told her about MC. What are the odds I would walk out of a non smoking building on a non smoking campus and run into one of US??? LOL

GrannyH,

It's always good to hear good news.

Thanks for the update.

It helps that he has exercised his whole life, and eats like a monk.. high fiber, no fat, low carbs, very little sugar. He doesn't drink, smoke, drink coffee (or chase wild women either..LOL).

Hi grannyh,

Good news about hubby. Best wishes for an uneventful recovery.

Interesting encounter. I seem to be hearing about more and more people with MC. My niece's hubby and my brother's girlfriend were just diagnosed with MC (no gentic connection to me). Another niece, age 23, has begun to notice symptoms that she thinks are gluten-related.

Hugs,

Polly

Have to wonder if it isn't all of the artificial ingredients in food these days. Or maybe it is just better diagnostic tools...

I agree, it seems like I am always meeting people who are gluten free. Not necessarily MC, some have other symtoms that have led to them giving it up. I met two people just this week.

Another girl has been going to Dr. Christiane Northrup's Women's Clinic in Maine. This girl is 44 and has a lot of issues including hormonal. The first thing they did was remove gluten and dairy from her diet. Last week they removed yeast. I can see such a difference in the way she looks, she has dropped 15 pounds (she needed and wanted to) and is feeling so much better.

I still wouldn't give up gluten or anything else if I didn't have to, but I do and it is what it is.

My Bother had a triple by-pass at 50. He is now 61 and as fit as a fiddle.... skiing etc. etc. Hope all goes well for your hubby.

Best, Ant

Grannyh,

Glad to hear the heart surgery went well. Hopefully he will bounce back quickly.

It is a small world. I often run into people and have the gluten conversation. I have a nephew that went gluten free last year and it has changed his life. He has lost 70 pounds and has never felt better.

Granny,

Wow, quadruple hear bypass - that's pretty serious surgery! I'm glad he's doing well and I hope he recovers quickly.

He is still doing well. Getting up with assistance.. hard to get up when you can't use your hands to help you and you are holding a pillow on your chest. We applauded we he did his first pee...LOL Like we do for us when we have our first Norman or a dry phart:)

Glad to hear your hubby is doing well :band:

As for gluten free people....here in So. California it is quite commonplace. Whether many of them are allergic, sensitive or merely seeking a healthier lifestyle I'm not always sure. One friend who is a celiac and has M.S. actually controls all her symptoms with diet. She is the only person I know who has more sensitivities than I do.
