What is name of that dental cleaning stuff..non-gf??

Post by Lucy »

Hi everyone,

At the usual 24 hrs afterwards, had a reaction to something I would've gotten at the dental office -- most likely to the gluten in it. I just got lazy, and short of time, and didn't look up the name of those commonly used products that have gluten in them in time to arrange for a substitute. Dah! At least after a thorough cleaning out, I was fine within the hour and not many episodes to accomplish it. Been so long I can hardly remember the last time I gluted myself. Hopefully, I've not done much damage with just this one episode.

Anyway, if anyone just sort of offhand remembers the names of the ones either to avoid or if simplier, the ones that are ok, please post it here, and I'll check back in about a week as I'll be off the internet for that long.

Won't need to know for myself, but since the dentist has other celiacs, it might come in handy for them before I return for another cleaning, so would like to pass that on to her right away.

Would you believe that as allergic as she is to corn, she didn't know that citric acid in the USA is often made from corn? That right, Wayne? Does it have to list the source if it's NOT from corn?? Said she's getting ready to go on an elimination diet with a friend soon, btw. I then told her about enterolab to look up on the net as she said her feet swell whenever she eats soy. This is the second person I've run into who's said that.

If you'll remember, this was the first thing that got "cured" when I first went gf -- the swollen feet. Anyway, I'm sure it's the same type reaction cause she said that it wasn't the typical swelling ya get in the ankles for other reasons, but the feet themselves, just like mine. Think that's a good way to differentiate it when you're explaining it, don't you?

OK, just thought I'd ask about the gluten free dental cleaning/polishing, etc. stuff, just in case anyone had that information easily at hand.

What has been the experience of the others of you who also are sensitive to gluten to the dental cleaning materials?

Guess once this is settled, this question should really be posted in shorter version over in the diet/treatment section of this site, don't you think?

Will miss you all next week, but don't worry, I plan to have fun.

Yours, Luce
