Back on entocort and enterolab test shipped
Hi Everyone,
I do not post a lot. I had another relaspe. I previously did 12 weeks of pepto that did not work, 10 months of entocort and 10 weeks off. I have been on the GF/Df diet for 10 months.. I was off entocort for 10 weeks and slowly started the downward slide. It got to the point instead of a 3-4 hour morning problem to a 3-4 hour middle of the night problem. I was getting no sleep and have a 10-12 hour work day. The day I shipped the enterolab test I called the GI and now back onto entocort. I was very upset at first but this time the entocort gave quick results probably due to diet. You do feel you are a failure at times but I need to work and have a life! I am hoping this will be short live.
I will post the results when I receive them hopefully within in the week.
Thanks have a great night!

You're not a failure Denise! Hopefully your Enterolab tests will give you some answers. I understand completely going back on Entocort ( and it's great that it worked quickly). It's hard to work if you can't sleep and spend half your day in the bathroom! Try to stay away from irritating foods for now and stay hydrated.

Denise,
I know how you feel after being off Entocort for 10 weeks and seeing your remission slip away. I hope that the Enterolab testing will help you determine the other foods that are causing you problems and you can begin to heal.
After almost 6 years of dealing with MC, I've learned that we are not failures if we can't achieve remission without meds. We just have a more complicated case and our bodies are more sensitive. In your case, it may just take one or more foods and you'll be fine. I hope that's the case for you.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
Gloria, you couldn't have said it better! I'm approaching the six year mark too and at times I just want to stop trying to figure it out (but then where would that leave me?). I've been on entocort since February and had hoped to be off it by now.
Hang in there Denise, could you imagine if we stayed home every time we didn't feel well? We'd never leave the house!

Ain't it the truth. I went to see my granddaughter in a play yesterday. It was great, she was great, me not so great. I was sitting between my son and my daughter-in-law close to the stage at a small theater. Leaving quickly would have been disruptive and luckily I didn't have to but it would have been so nice to be able to just relax and enjoy rather than to feel iffy the whole time and hope to make it through. All you can do is keep on trying to figure it out. At least I can leave the house which a while back was close to impossible.DebE13 wrote:

I am one of those 'complicated' cases, who still need a maintenance dose of Enrocort (well actually the generic, not the expensive monopoly brand). Even being GF, DS, EF, legumeF and nightshadeF I still average 3 mg every other day. The combination gives me my life and the energy to still dream of getting off meds one day..... but...... if not..........I am still in a much better place than 3 years ago, before understanding how diet effects MC.
Best, ant

Hi Denise,
Hope you feel better! There has been some discussion in the past 2 months of members being helped by antihistamines during Entocort taper. I'm not sure if you've been following those threads. Just a thougtht of something else you might research. Polly had a good post on it.
Best wishes, Brandy

Hi,
Thanks for your replies! Two weeks ago before I called the GI my choice was wear a depends for the commute and bring a change of clothes, I called the Gi. I called GI so that it was on record. I had enough entocort in the house to start again but I wanted in his notes. His comment was the disease wanes. We all know that! I do not eat process foods and follow GF/DF and stay away from soy. The day I shipped my enterolab test I called and upgraded to the all sensitives. I did not want to spend that much for the test but I need to stop what is going on. I can tell it is undigested foods when the D starts. All I can say this disease is terrible and if the people around me in my life had this would be at the ER constantly. Sorry just venting! I will get better and I hope it is without medication!

Hi Denise,
The test is definitely worth the money. I need to convince my husband of that. Glad though that getting back on Entocort is working. 12 weeks on Pepto! So depressing when you are on something for so long and for the symptoms to return once we get off meds. I'm currently weaning off Pepto and I'm terrified. And I haven't even given up soy 100%. Don't know if I react.
Yes, this is a terrible and frustrating disease. But I think we all are a tough and strong bunch for living with it. I actually think my in-laws may admire me now! Hang in there!
