You have got to SEE this!!
Hi cavemen and women,
Our beloved paleolithic diet has finally gone mainstream with Loren Cordain's new book. It is for sale now and it has been mentioned in the magazine "Runner's World" - latest volume. Please, see if this link has anything that interests you; I am going to order a copy of the book now. Happy reading, eating,.............and running

P.S. Wayne, I think we need an emoticon of a jogger...

Hi Karen,
I agree, but so far I haven't had any luck in locating an emoticon of a jogger/runner. In the meantime, this is the only substitute I can find.:

Wayne

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hi Karen,
Thanks for this heads up- it's pretty cool that this diet is making into the running world. I'm not surprised really, are you?
I'll check out his new book. I'm not a runner but have really benifited from this diet. My body feels strong.
Keep on running.....Love, Joanna

Joanna, keep on exercising!! I think the book is for all paleo dieters who are also exercising; it isn't specifically for runners. However, I think many scientists imagine/believe our ancestors the hunters spent a great deal of time running as part of the life style, part of the hunt. It wasn't quite like going to the grocery store and picking a juicy steak.........
If the scientists are right (how dare I doubt it?!) we are genetically designed to be runners - so, throw away all the excuses and start to pick up some speed...... HAHAHA!! I have always thought of myself as very slow in terms of running but I think it's a mental barrier that I have erected for myself and I am currently working on moving the barrier and experiencing the speed of my body along with increased endurance. I ran for 1 hour and 30 minutes outside on the road last Sunday; that's the longest time I have ever run to date. My body keeps surprising me with how much energy I have and how capable I am despite food intolerances and lack of simple carbs in my diet.
Were the women hunter/gatherers not runners? Did they participate in the hunt? Or did they just walk and gather? Those are some questions I would like to know more about. It seems when I look around that many modern women have bodies that are extremely capable of high speed as well as endurance in running sports - perhaps we women did participate in the hunt back in the stone age and our bodies have adapted to that life style just like men's bodies have.
With the paleo diet and the absence of processed foods in my diet I am full of energy at the age of 45 going on 46; if I hadn't become so sick with MC I might have been capable of doing the same things on a diet of processed foods but I don't need to look back or imagine that since it isn't my reality and never will be.
Good luck with your endevors whatever they might be - and let me know what you guys think about the book when/if you read it.
Love,
Karen
